    Headlight

    I might soon get rid of the orange piece in the headlight.........but i'm wondering if I get rid of it, the signal light bulb would be still orange for the signal right? and what size are the bulbs in there, low beam and high beam...........and which one I need to change (the light in the dark is low or high........)

    and for those who have done this, what bulb did you change inside and what brand did you choose.

    High = 9005
    Low = 9006
    Signal = 3157

    I'm using Sylvania SilverStars for both my high and low beams. Since I have an LE, I don't have fogs, but those would be H3's. The signal bulb is a 3157 (dual filament) and I bought "chromed" amber signal bulbs. The bulb is coated with a chrome-like coating (similar to sunglass coatings) so the bulb appears silver when off, and amber when lit.

    by default your low beams will always come on, the high's only come on when u turn them on cuz they have restrictions on when u can use them. as for the signal lights, they will come on with ur low beams or when u turn on ur parking lights. the sizes were mentioned by bimmernut, the bulbs he recomended are exellent, i'm gonna get those now too since i disabled my DRL

    I just surfed thru google until I found what I was looking for. The link below, isn't the place that I bought my bulbs from, as I can't seem to find the place... figures :? they were only accepting PayPal... They're cheap in quality, as they blink yellow instead of amber, but they were really cheap ($14 inc. shipping). I would recommend throwing out a few more bucks to get higher quality ones. Heck, this site sell them for $19.80... maybe I'll have to order a set now...

    You'll have to scroll down until you find;

    LB3157CA (wedge mount)
    3157 Chrome Coated Amber Wedge Mount
    Bulbs for Crystal Clear lenses

    Yes. I changed all four headlamp bulbs for continuity. The 3157 is the signal light (blinker/parking light) and this is the "chromed" bulb that is on my car.

    Xenon = True HID (in my mind).

    There are dozens of Xenon-like/HID-like bulbs. I personally have found the SilverStars to be the best, as they throw the most amount of usable light. You can opt for a higher "K" (kelvin) rating, like PIAA Spark Blue bulbs (7500k), but I prefer the SilverStars (4000k).

    Completely up to you on the headlight bulbs. Just make sure you don't buy a high wattage bulb, unless you have a heavy-duty headlight harness. If you install high wattage bulbs you'll run the risk of burning out your stock wiring.

    For about $600 (parts only) you can convert your existing low beam (9006 bulb socket) to TRUE HID...

    I'l answer it for ya....

    55 is the standard wattage. With Silverstar you don't need to worry about wiring since it's also 55watts. But some other bulbs are rated 110watts. You'll need new wiring kits if you want those.

    About the legal color of signal light.

    That's in section 25950 of the CVC, at the end of the page
    http://www.timberwoof.com/motorcycle/lightslaws.html .

    In back, it can be red or yellow. In front, it can be yellow or white.

    Blue is illegal anywhere on a car; red is illegal in front.
