    How to remove door panel...?

Well, I'm wanting to look to see what is wrong with my passenger side front speaker... so I'm wanting to remove the door panel. How do I do this?

The speaker is like... with almost any bass at all it sounds like it is rattling. It's a 5 1/4" Memphis Audio... I'm taking it back Thursday, but I wanted to see what it might be before doing that.

    Thanks

(the DIY is down and couldn't find it searching for it)

hey, mines like that too.........i have infinity reference speakers now and even before, my stock speaker sounded fuzzy on that side. Now its vibrating and rattling over there on the passenger side again, but it took a while after install for it to do that. I dont think the speakers blown.....but I dont really know how to take off the door panel either.

    1. pry out the arm panel, both of them. First take the rear one out, and the front one with the switches on it. After that, unsrew the two screws under the rear armset.

    2. There is the little square thingy in the middle of the door lock. Stick a tiny flat screw driver in it and it should pop out. Take one screw behind it too.

    3. Starting from front bottom or rear bottom, pry out the door panel. You might need to use some force as well. They are tight.

Then you can check if there is anything loss, or you can put some sound deaden stuff on the door.

left out one tiny step...the little black triangle shaped peice at the front, just pull it straight off before you pull the big panel off.

Oh yes, sorry. Hit a parts store and get a window-crank remover. It's about two bucks.

Very easy to use, put it behind the window crank directly behind the crank long-part (with the knob at the end), between the crank and that little white washer. Then just push...the little clip pops right off.

Have your hand ready to catch it, I spend a hour replacing my speaker in the driver's door, but for-frigginever trying to find that clip. It'll fly if you let it.

hey instead of going to the trouble of buying that tool, just use a peice of twine, string or rope.

It's cheaper and faster IMO. What you do is fasten the twine around the backing of the window knob, and then roll down the window, the clip will slide right out.

I did this all the time on my old rolla, cause i would change the speakers quite often.

Here's Toyota's recommended method. This from a Toyota 1995 Corolla service manual...

lol, where did you drop it?

Inside the door at the bottom?

Did you try taking off the thin plastic layer?

daym...i've done that before on my friends car  . It was really anyoying had to drill out all his rivits, dig out the screw, and then re-revit the mount right back into place (helps when your dad has a rivit gun in the garage ;) ).

Well, I found the source of my rattling, it was one of the screws that held the speaker mount in place...it just couldnt be screwed in correctly and it was kinda flush against the speaker and loose, so when the base kicked it rattled........so I took it out, wala! no more rattling. Soooo thats why mine was rattling.

bzzsan, I noticed something strange about my panel also. I was bored one day and decided to pull at it because I was so frustrated, well about 2 or 3 of those white screws that pop out came off and the door panel wasn't really completely on but I had no more rattling. I'm wondering now if it's just a screw like you said. Was the screw that you removed a pop-out kind or a regular screw?

HEY. I just recently had a sub put in with an alpine amp and the crossover has really helped. My rattling is almost completely gone now when I have my sub on because all the bass is going to the sub instead of the components. :D

Something like this magnetic pickup tool would work to get a screw out of a door. But it would be better to get the "snake" flexible kind. You can get them at Sears pretty cheap.

Unless what you dropped in the door is aluminum...then this wouldn't work, but a old trick it to stick a piece of chewed bubble gum on the end.
