So I emailed a local shop about a 3SGTE swap into my 94 Corolla...

"Hey Kevin this swap is not a big deal...It just would
take more money than 4agze swap...Give me a call at
    the shop ***-***-****.."

I was expecting an email saying that I was dreaming, but man was I wrong! I am going to call maybe tomarrow to discuss pricing.

Haha, yea, this shop is well-known and has a good reputation down in South Florida. They specialize in Toyota and Nissan applications, but do work on all imports. Great customer service so far, all my emails have been answered within 24 hours.

After doing the 2ZZGE swap into a '98, I doubt that a 3SGTE would be much more difficult...

BTW I got that swap running today.

I would check out Jamasco in Hollywood, Florida. I hear they've got experience swapping in 3S-GTE's into various Toyota's. But for the price, you can get yourself a car already with the 3S-GTE (Celica All-Trac / MR2 Turbo).

I wish I lived in your area...

Yea, but I love my Corolla too much to let her go... but I really want a faster engine... I was thinking just keeping the Corolla with minor bolt-ons to make her fun for a daily driver and purchasing an MR2 as a project, but that is too expensive for me, to maintain both cars... so yea it's either one or the other. I emailed the shop today about approx. pricing for the swap so I can get an idea... maybe that will throw my decision to either swap or go MR2... :signBling lmao these new smilies are the best.

the 3sgte is a nice engine, but i would go for the high comp 4agze. puts down 160 and loads of upgrades for it, even a twin charging kit. replacement parts will be easier to find for lower prices and you can swap out for the previa supercharger

I'm thinking about it now.......once I'm done with my Talon then I'll see if I can get a pretty big loan and IF does happen then get another 98' rolla and stick a 2JZ-GTE in that biatch.......man this kinda temptations might kill me one of these days lol

"You are looking at $3200.00 parts & labor...Sometimes
we are busy in the shop, but you can leave a message
and I will return your call....***-***-****... "

I ask myself this and I ask you this... is it worth it? My other choice is 20v with a turbo set up, but I think that would end up to be almost as much as just getting the 3SGTE swap but with less power.

100% worth it for that price. I won't be suprised if, once the shop gets into it, they regret giving you that price though!!! Make sure you get it in writing that it will be no more than that.

$3200 is damn cheap for any shop swap for both parts and labor. I'm assuming it is the later 3SGTE (ex. ST185 - '90-'93 Celicas or ST205 - '94-'97 Celicas)- if an earlier version (ST165 - '86-'89 Celica), that price is about ballpark then.

Half cuts alone for a 3SGTE run anywhere from $2000 to $2800 for a decent one - more for the hard the find models, like the ST205 (94-97 Celicas) variants. Half cut for a 20V 4AGE run about half that.

You'd be spending about as much to turbocharge your 1zz...if it's a reputable shop and you get it in writing, definitely consider it.

I should send my car over..heh..

just doing a swap would be better since the engine is designed to be turbocharged.....I would do this...since I've learned that its a headache doing a custom turbo system.

the 1zz-fe's are not bad to boost man, they're good motors HOWEVER people think they can get them to run 10's with a couple of grand and it won't happen

if i had a welder here i could pretty easily do that swap for like $2000 including parts.... a 5sfe FWD tranny is easy to get ahold of, and the motor i can get for less than $1,000 in the area with electronics & manifold.....
