true HID... this is highest percentage of Xenon gas (of course you would need ballasts to arc the bulb). All other "xenon" bulbs have a very small percentage of xenon gas. Most likely the highest percentage is halogen. I would go with the Sylvania/Osram SilverStar. Cheaper than either APC or Hiper and they'll last longer since they're not made in China or Korea.

haha i know about true HIDs but they're like 700 bucks. dont have money for that. the Sylvanias and Philips aren't that white. it still has a lot of yellow shade. as for my APC, i had them for 2 1/2 years now haha

yeah... Silverstars aren't the "blueist" bulbs out there... they are white, but don't have the color of HID's. Silverstar bulbs have the greatest amount of usable light... unless you happen to be an insect, where you can actually see colors above 6000k with stunning clarity. Homosapiens, however, don't have optic nerves or retinas that are tuned for such short wavelengths.

Good luck with your bulb buying habit (I wish I was on of those manufacturers getting rich off of HID look-alike customers)... In 4 years you'll have spent as much on "xenon" bulbs as a true HID set. I'm looking into a true HID system since I won't have to replace bulbs each year and the output (color and usable light) is really what all "xenon" bulb buyers are looking for.

Walmart carries them now too! Becoming a one-stop-shop for the good stuff, Mobil-1 TriSyn, Silverstars, window tint, starting to get decent stereo in there, what next!

I believe only 9000 series bulbs are for sale in the US. Perhaps H series (metal base bulbs) are available under the Osram label in the rest of the world?

If not, PIAA makes a variety of H-series bulbs. Personally, I would go with a PIAA Ion Crystal bulb (yellow light) as yellow increases definition in foggy conditions better than "superwhite" style bulbs.

    Correct. Low (dipped) = 9006. High (main) = 9005.

Yoda, what's the (stock) bulb number on the fogs? I could do some Internet research for good substitutes (it's part of what I do at work), but I have a CE and don't have fogs.

AznMenace, I can pick you up a pair if you'd like, we can do payment via PayPal. They're $19 each for the lows at my local Wally Mart.

Or, better yet, you could PayPal the 38 bucks to Methane, that way you get the bulbs, and I get to help pay for the site bandwidth.

    PM me if you're interested.

tnx bimmernut. I imagine you've got access to some of the pay-per-view search engines I do...one of the very few things I convinced the Exec Director I must have.

I'll check it out when I go in tomorrow.

Yes I do, but I find most of my stuff on Google, metacrawler, dogpile, Yahoo! or Hotbot and they're all FREE! Webferret is nice too, but I don't like the fact that it's 1) a paying service for all of the features and 2) it requires a download...

KO, but it you can't find them, PayPal to Methane is easy, just go to the home page of this site, the PayPal button is at bottom left, click and follow the ball. Easy.
