    map light rear-view

I have a CE...so I didn't get the rear-view mirror with the map lights built in. Would somebody who does have that let me know where it gets it's electricity from? Are there wires on the windshield, or hanging down from the ceiling or somewhere else?

    Tnx!

I have the S and it doesnt have those either.

But the LE had an option for one with a compass on it. I would suspect there would be a single wire above the headliner for it.

The ones with the map lights are aftermarket then. I do a lot of computer "consulting" on the side after my "real" job, and am always attempting to read a map in the dark. Have a penlight I hold in my mouth now, would be nice to have maplights.

    Oh well.

    Thanks again.

they have the ones you speak of on Ebay, but I am sure they are aftermarket. The dealer didnt even know you could get the one for the rolla. But when he looked it up there it was. Then he told me the price for it

you know what it was $1700 CDN!!!! That wasnt even installed.

My S came with a mirror that has a Map Light on it. In fact, it has one for both the passenger and the driver.

I have the CE so mine dosnt have the map lights either. But I test drove an LE that had map lights in the rear view mirror. So I know some Rollas come stock with the map lights.

But if i remember correctly the wire just went up the windsheild and into the head liner, and i do remember that it was just a single black wire, but im sure it had a pos and neg wire inside the wire coating.

Maybe someday I'll get brave enough to pull down a little of my headliner in the front and see if the main harness is already there. If so, shouldn't be TOO hard to get the rest.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Power source for Maplights

The wire goes all the way back to the dome light. Different places depending if you have a sunroof.

...I also have the map lights, the wire to power the lights goes into the headliner.

Has anyone ever pulled their headliner? Is it a case of "pull it, ruin it", or a real bear to get back on right?
