    Carbon Fiber Hood.

I've seen a picture or two of someone's rolla with a CF hood.

Was wondering, does anyone know where to get it, and for how much. And also, what brand of CF is it, whats the quality rating for that CF.

    Thanks in advance.

I was also hoping for a CF hood. I figured with all the dings in my hood it would cost the sme to respray it and then protect it with the 3m stuff as it would for CF. Am I right in assuming that the CF will not get dings from rocks and such??

Also there are wiper attachments you can buy that change your hood mounted sprayers into wiper mounted sprayers. you may need to do that with this hood.

I just contacted the seller of the one on ebay to see if he is able to get more and if he can get a cheaper price for a certain amount of orders. I'll let you know what I hear. Sometimes its good to have your own performance shop cause then ppl are willing to cut their bottom line to get more volume in sales. We'll see how it goes.

If anyone wants to post on here ans say if they would buy one or two it will help to know what kind of numbers for interest we have.

I am interested in getting one.

But of course I need to know the pricing.

As well as, what I have to do like customizing the windshield sprayer? drilling holes for the 'clamp downs'.

    etc.

SO far I havtn heard anything from the guy. The sprayer things I speak of I got before from Crappy tire. they wer $10. I dont think they work all that good so I would preffer my things to be in the hood. I am trying to see if its ok to dril into the hood and what it requires. Ill also know about pricing later today I hope.

dude, i cant read that. its all chineese but cool pics though!!!
i think it is ok to drill holes in the CF hood. i dont really see it damaging anything unless you go thourgh a rib or something. although, i dont know about dings and rock chips.

I heard back from the guy I emailed. First complaint I have.... Any company that thinks its ok to wait over 24 hours to reply to a question doesnt want me as a customer. Unless its a weekend then it excusable, but they better answer some time on MONDAY!!!!

So they said that the hood does have the washer holes already in it. They also said I could call them for prices on larger orders.

Second problem. Any company that thinks they can pressure me into sales and charge me prices that I dont want to pay, and then think they will have a better chance of selling it to me at that price if they say it on the phone doesnt want my business. I had their number all along, if I wanted to "talk" to someone I would have called the first time. If they wont give me prices over E-mail where I have a hard copy to show them later then they really dont want my business.

There is shops in the area that carry these hoods I will check with them instead.

Plus in a few months I think there will be more selection. I would like one with the Evo style reverse scoop in it.

Yea the evo with reverse scoop would look sick :)

Too bad, you cant have water running into the engine :( Unless you find a way to let all the water out as they poor in :)

I was stating that if we got the carbonfibre evo reverse hood scoop, the water would be able to get in, unless its sealed.

you know, if water goes down the hood, it'll get into the scoop?

i know what you meant, but i just fail to understand your point why its bad to have water pouring into the hood. i can see it causing problems if it hits the battery, alternator, fuesbox or the engine and a few other key spots but as long as it isn't really damaging any of those things, i think it would be ok and also i guess the hood would have been designed for the original car so that there aren't any such problems so it might not be as bad. also do you have any pics of the hood on a evo.

    I dont :(

but i always wanted one like that, since I got the corolla.

Have you seen the older version of the Mitsu Evo? ... that is a beautiful car.

I wanted to make this one like it :) hehe, but I don't know, it doesnt seem like much stuff is out for the car, u know?

And DKN03 is coming soon, so I have to get parts a.s.a.p and get ready.

The water would drip all over the rad if it went anywhere on a style hood like that. But Usually the hood isnt even open at the bottom of the scoop thing so there will just be a pool of water on it.

Check out the hoods fgor civics I think they have a CF hood like what I mean. But if all these other cars can use a hood like that with no problem then I dont see why the Rolla would have a problem.

I aksed the guy about if rocks will chip the CF hood. He said

"We will nto replace any hood that has rock chips"

I Emailed him back and said "thats not what I asked. I have rock chips all over in my hood and am looking at getting the hood fixed then protected or getting a CF hood. So with small pebles will the CF chip or crack?"

He emails back again and says

"we will not provide a warranty on the CF hood if you are driving too fast, and have large rocks chipping the hood"

You know I really wonder how such morons can run any sort of business. I tried to make it clear that I wanted to know if the CF would get rock chips from TINY rocks and they still cant figure it out. I will NOT be buying anything from that Ebay seller. I guess I'll need to find a different place to get hoods from. Im just soo upset. this is the 3rd guy/company I have talked to about parts this weekend and they all sound like complete morons when they answer my questions.

Anyone read that book "Flowers for Algenon"??

You know how when he is sooo smart and he talks to proffesors and stuff and realizes how stupid they really are about most things? Well thats how I am starting to feel with my conversation with some of these "parts" suppliers. Such morons, that dont know anything!

true that, that is how most of the retail world is, they know how much it costs and a few basics, when it comes to detailed info, they dont know shit. even at work, when i first started i was shocked, cuz this one guy in my department (computers) had been there for 6 years only knew the basics, but didn't know or bother to know any of the details.

I just feel bad for the other guys that look to these ppl as a source of information on how to do something to their car. they shouldnt be telling anyone anything the amount of info they know. Its just really scarry. whats worse, in talking to some of the Toyota techs its amazing to see how much some of them are just trained monkey who only know how to do what they are told.

I was like WTF??? i took it in and this lady, who does the checkin's and stuff, (known her for a long time) is like what's the problem, your not due for an oil change for a while? i told her and she's like it'll take 30 mins just wait we'll have it done.

Its a VIS racing hood, and there is a dealer in the city that has them. I just need to find out if they have the rolla here and how much it will cost. The good thing at least is that the US dollar is so weak that $680 is only about $750 CDN. If this was 4 months ago that would be over $1,000.

I dont want to pay more than about $500 though. Mabey Ill have to see what my supplier in taiwan wants for one of these things. Plus they have the reverse scoop style that I want anyway.

I'll have to start checking again. About 5 months ago I contacted a bunch of caompanies and asked for cataloggs of what they had. My main turnoff was that they all wanted me to buy at least $5,000 US worth of stuff before they would sell to me. But the one cataloge they sent had an Altis with the reverse scoop CF hood. as well as a differne body kit, and mirrorsa and evrything. I think I threw it out though, so I will need to find them again.

Most these guys dont have websites, and the ones they do have are in chinese and partial english. I usually deal with them through email coz someone there speals english. I'll start my search again and see what I come up with.
