    Clear corners...is it legal...asked dmv...mixed message....

I went to a NJ inspection station and asked if the car would still pass inspection and be legal if I took out the yellow piece from the headlights, but left in a yellow bulb for the signal. The guy told me he would have to see it...but that tells me nothing since I dont want to do the work and find out its not legal...then i have to replace the whole headlight unit. He said that as long as the headlights have DOT on them they are alright...but what about a modified DOT headlight? Does anyone have the clear corners in NJ, or any experience with passing inspection with the clear sides? Thanks.

in most cases it is legal to have cleared corners, if i am not mistaken the last gen civic b4 the new shape was introduced had factory CC's. also what the DOT is primarily concerned with is that you have some sort of reflector so if you lights blow out, oncomming or following traffic can see your car. that is the reason why clear tails are illegal and altezzas (gay as they are) are legit.

Sorry to those who lave tezzas but i like them if they are customized like some one on this board does.

also did anyone ever think about angeleye tails. the halo's light up instead of the parking light or just the turnsignal is the halo. i think i might buy a set of tezzas and then use VAMP's (vvti.net) diy to make something along those lines. will post if i ever get some extra $$$ or if some one has a pair they are willing to part with cleap or even one light, i'd be interested as a project and i will do a full diy on it. Hollllllllla

law just say that u have to have a reflecter of some sort on both right &left front end, by taking the orange piece out u would not be legal, but to be honest w/ u a cop will not tell as long as u keep the amber buld, if they do they have WAY to much time on there hands, im gona take mine out!

i wouldn't suggest talkin to cops, cuz i was at court once for a ticket hearing and believe me they all tell each other about all the weired stories and this would be one of them. just check for the NJ DOT rules on line. there should be a website adn go as per that. if you are going to open the headlight up (take it apart and reseal), just put a white reflector peice in there. but its up to you in the end anyways.

I got clear corners with blue bulbs. I have been using them for about 1 year now. they glow white though, just when they are off they look blue. Havnt had one ticket yet.

Same in Hawaii as DisOrDeR says for California. As long as you have the yellow light, clear corner is ok. But if you have the white, blue, or any other color, then it's illegal.

In CA as long as you have a yellow bulb your ok, but you still will only get a fix it ticket... no fine, but if you wanna leave the yellow bulb in, make sure you tape over where the DRL connects to it.. otherwise it looks gay...electric tape works great, wouldnt reccomend cutting the cable when you can use a little tape

it has nothin to do w/ lights at all , the only thing u need is a reflecter on the sides of your car thats it, and yes the lil orange thing is the reflecter, it is not legal, but take a chance i did so far so good, if i cop really wants to f* w/ me he could pull me over, but i dont think that will happen, many cars come stock w/ clear corners but u will notice a reflecter is molded into the body every time.

    I live in Calgary Canada

If you get the side marker lights from ebay or somewhere and have those in orange then you will be really ok with the clear corners.

    Just replaced the 3157 bulb

I just replaced the bulb with a APC Clear super white...still have the Orange reflector in it. That should be okay up in Canada....Thats a big assumption. I'll tell you if I get stopped.
