    Window tinting illegal?

I was just on the New Hampshire DMV Website, reading what I can and (legally) can't do to my ride. Found where window tinting AT ALL is illegal in New Hampshire, with the exception of a "strip no more than six inches from the top of the windshield, so long as it does not surpass 35% grade".

Aaargh! Any New Hampshire-ites up here actually ever get bagged (or denied inspection) because of window tint?

Yeah, in Texas, people don't fight for the parking spots up front, they fight to park under trees!

Where I live RedHeads are allowed to tint ALL the windows as black as they want except the front windows. This is coz they "burn easier" than othe rppl. Im sure they still get a hard tim for it though

Wow! 35% seems as though you might as well not tint your windows at all. That's only because I am SO used to my dark windows. I have 5% limo tint all the way around, and the 5% front strip goes about 1/4 of the way down my front windshield. I live down here in FL, and have had them for close to 9 months, and I haven't gotten stopped yet. Maybe I'm just lucky, because the legal limit, I think, is 35% on the front driver and passenger sides, front windshield down to the AS1 mark, 20% on the rear passenger and driver sides, and 5% on the back window. I personally am not a fan of different percentage tints on different windows, so I decided to go with 5% all the way around, and I LOVE IT!!! It looks awesome on my indigo ink blue car! Thank God that tinting is not as brutal down here as it is where ya'll live.

Most cops have better things to do with their time than to write you a fix-it ticket just for window tint. Only time I've ever heard of anyone getting a ticket for tint was when they got pulled over for speeding, and were giving the cop shit, and he decided to teach them a lesson. Ticket for speeding, driving with undue care (talking on a cell phone), fix-it ticket for exhaust, lights, and windows. $600 later he wished he had just kept his mouth shut...

Therein lies the problem...cops here DON'T have anything better to do. When there's a real crime, they call in the staties. Local cops here are jack-booted para-military criminals with guns and badges...couldn't catch a real criminal if they nuked the city. They sit in the parking lots of stores, bars, laundromats and radio other cops down the street when a good looking woman takes off down the street. She gets pulled over for a "safety" check. I've actually seen people arrested for resisting arrest, and no other charge! How's that work you ask...simple...a $150 fine in court is cheaper than $600 for a lawyer. So they get away with it.

Wonder why NH won't allow tinting, but those kid sunshades are allowed? I can (almost) understand why no-tinting-allowed on the driver's window is the rule, they can't see in to see if there's a gun pointing at them. But, if we can block the rears with kid shades, why can't we tint them?

Not sure I want to attract them to me at all.

    Live free or die. Uh-huh.

Thats my whole argument. They say in NJ the tint is illegal due to cops want to be able to see but the cop wont see a weapon even if the doors are clear the person is going to hold it down under the window and by the time the cop see it it may be too late. So that doesnt jive with me.

    It does indeed look great!

We've been kicking around moving to central Maine in a few years. Central Maine has 4 cops. Believe I'll be tinted up there!
