ATTENTION! 03 JDM Headlamp owners ATTENTION!

If anyone has done the most research for this topis, its me. I am determined as hell. I got 2 thrends up in VVTI about it, one in here and even in the Celica forum.

I went to the dealer too, hoping they will let me examine one of their celicas to see if it might fit the black housing (ours is 4 teeth).

After I speical ordered the celica city light parts, its been in delayed and backordered for 3 weeks.

    results....

    :!: ATTENTION :!:

I just got the Celica city lights from the dealer this afternoon and tested it..

They are an exact fit! FOR THOSE WHO HAVE JDMS it WILL FIT PERFECTLY! you will have to spiecal order from the dealer and it is about 10 bucks for both.

    Detailed to prove my hypothesis...
    *4 teeth configuration (CONFIRMED!)
*about 2-3" lenght to fit though city light hole
*rubber linning to seal and keep off water leakaged
    *tight fit

but he problem is... they dont give you the harness wires or the light bulb. the sockets fit perfectly however. I am so excited from these results.

anyone might know the bulb size? and the harness?

hope this finally helps on this topic...

I see.. good observation there too. but the problem is.. I am not exactrly sure if this is an exact fit or not either. I was thinking about buy this before as well but the problem is..

*not long enough to fit through the city light holes,
*no teeths to lock in place (since you are drillling your headlamps to put it in)

I will try to post pic of what I got from teh deal and befoer and after install for you guys but I think it is a perfect placement.. no more stupid electrial tape or what ever to keep mosture out.

you go ahead and try it out from RS version.. see if it fits and prove me wrong. who knows you might have the right set with wires and bulbs and stuff.

oh yeah.. I saw that trend too, but for me, it was kinda vague. from a tire shop in canada. pretty long commute for a city light. I pin pointed that the new celica city lights will also fit pretty perfectly.

does your have the bulb or wiring yet? curious zero.

 man, these city lights r more common than i thought. i got em on my civic's jdm headlamps as well. they can be found on various toyotas, hondas, and acuras. very common socket and bulb size 194. got to a junk yard and swipe for free.

Here's what I came up with for the city lights in my JDMs:

    http://www.electronickits.com/kit/complete/elec/ck1614.htm

I'm setting it for a 30 second off delay, then bulbs on for two seconds, then repeat. It's powered off a fuse-tap in the fusebox under the hood, it's only active when the car is OFF. Used a simple SPDT relay to change the power-on signal from the car into active when off.

Idea is to simulate a armed alarm, which I do have one of, but only with the inside the car LED. Figure nobody is going to hang around for 30 seconds just to see if the lights flash again, so it won't draw a crowd.

I called and ordered the two part numbers given in this thread. Both come back as Celica city light sockets. Parts guy wasn't sure what the difference was between them, so I ordered both, he says I don't have to pay for the ones I don't need. Says will take 2 - 3 days to come in.

the jdm headlights have an extra hole inside the lowbeam reflector for a citylight...if you don't fill that hole... moisture is going to get in and ruin the headlights :p :?

    Re: question

you can buy the jdm headlamps but there will be a hole for a city light and if u dont cover it up soon thereafter, then moisture will get in. i got my sockets from a junkyard from a honda, and splice and solder it in. i now have a city light. hope that clears it up.

Just wondering, what exactly is a "city light?" What purpose does it serve?

    Re: question

What did you splice them to, the lows, highs, parking, etc.? I couldn't come up with splicing them into anything already on the car that made any sense...it was either a switch or some sort of external control circiut.

(This is according to someone else) city lights are on Japanese and a lot of European cars. They light when the car is parked. Guess there's a lot of other options too, like having only one side lit.

JDM headlights are made perfect for ciry lights, and they fit on our Corollas perfect too. But on our Corollas there is nowhere from the factory to hook them up.

So we're being "inventive" amd doing it ourselves!

in major cities in asia...its very well lit at night...making headlights unnecessary...citylights are sort of like day-time running lights but for night time city driving

the 'jdm' headlights fit the 03+ corolla perfectly, no modification is neccessary...IF you read my previous post...you would have seen...I only bought the sockets to fill the extra hole(keeping moisture out) ...geez i hate repeating myself :?

Zero I picked up two of that part number today. The things are $21.06 each! Of course, Toyota couldn't sell me just the connectors I'd need to hook them up, their suggestion is to hit a junkyard. I called the one local junkyard, and they're not willing to cut up a harness just to sell me the connectors. I hit a few parts stores in town, no luck. I'm thinking of using a Dremmel to shave the socket down so I can solder directly to the pins, then fill it with silicone or hot-glue.

Someone else gave another part number, the 90075-60046, I ordered those two, but they're backordered with no guess on a ETA. All my invoice says for that number is "plug, socket". I'm wondering if that IS the plugs for the 02020 sockets. Do you know?
