    "parking lights"

Does anyone know how to disengage the parking lights? I have cleared my lenses and replaced all of the bubs with Xe ones, but since the turn signal lights have variable wattage thet are not as bright and therefore not as white when not blinking. Has anyone encountered the same problem, what did you do if anything to fix it?

the easy thing to do if you want the park lights on the corner to not be on and only blink when you use the turn signal would be to cut the wire for the park lights. there is 3 wires on it, one for +12V for the park lights, one for +12V for the signal light, and a common negative. So just pull the plg off the back and turn on the park lights. Us e a multi meter to find which wire is hot and cut it. then you will be set. do the same thing on the other side.

But you should know that its not a reduced voltage that runs those to make them blink, they have 2 filiments in them. I would suspect either you got the singal filiment bulb by accident or that the bulb is deffective. to make it blink it just tuns on a higher wattage filiment inside the bulbs. The easy way to tell is. If you can see through the bulb glass look to see if there is physically 2 filiment sin it. Or take a look at the back side of the bulb., you should see 4 little wire things on it. A singal filiment will only have 2

Instead of cutting wires couldn't you just put a non-conductive paint on the 12+ bulb contact to the park light?

That way you could just swap bulbs to put it back to stock.

yeah .. what i did was rewire my corner lights..
so now my turn signals (Corner lights) just stay on (both filaments) so tis like SUPER BRIGHT.. and they blink when i use my turn signals..
you just need to buy some relays... . $2.50 a piece.. u need 4 of them.. 2 on each side .. for when ur lights are on and when ur lights are off
that way ur turn signals work in the day and at nite . heh

If you really wanted too you could probably put a peice of black tape over the wire on the bulb so it wont turn it on. But if you cant see it then I think you just got the wrong bulb.

I did what "stinky" suggested, cutting the one positive |"parking light" wire works great....no more ugly off-white color. THanks :D

Just make sure you left enough wire on the connector so you can re-wire it up later if you need to. I guess its too late to say that though.

Question on the Parking bulb type and Brand

Folks, what type of bulb were you able to find for the parking lights ?....They are 3157 wedge, what other brands make the clear. I don't think PIAA makes them.

    thanxs, Harvey.
