    Toyota to recall 880,000 vehicles

TOYOTA, Japan (Reuters) -- Toyota Motor Corp. has said it will recall about 880,000 sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and pickups worldwide, mostly in the United States, to fix a defect in the front suspension that could hamper steering.

Covered in the recall, aimed at fixing front-suspension ball joints that could wear faster than they should, are the Tacoma and Tundra pickup trucks and Sequoia, Landcruiser Prado and 4Runner/Hilux Surf SUVs built between May 2001 and December 2003.

Of the total, 789,000 units are in North America.

Japan's top auto maker said it does not disclose estimated recall costs.

A spokesman said there was one report of an accident in Japan, where Toyota is recalling 23,800 Hilux Surf and Landcruiser Prado vehicles. Information on accidents elsewhere was not immediately available.

The recall also covers 19,000 vehicles in Europe and 12,000 in Australia

yea most car companies make recalls at least once or twice man. My mom's pilot also got recalled for a failure on a sensor for the seat belts and then another one for the suspension too, this kinda crap happens all the time.

I do think I am the ONLY person in this entire community affected by that recall.

Props to Toyota though, if they can have a ball joint that needs to be recalled...and mine have 50k on them...that's pretty impressive for a "flawed" part.

...on my Tundra-only forum, there seems to be alot of people who all of a sudden are concerned with the overall quality of Toyota. Does that impression strike anyone here?
Let me provide a few quotes...

...And finally, the post I placed up in that particular thread...
Give me some opinions on this.

I don't think the quality is slipping. But, I do think there are a lot better cars out there. I hate to say it, but I buy Toyota for the price. I like my car, but the last time I bought a car, it was more or less all I could afford. (If only I had known I'd be moving up this quickly at my company). For my next car to be a corolla again, will take a lot of convincing, improvements and re-styling. Again, it's not that I hate the toyota's, they just aren't moving in the direction I like. I also hate Toyota dealerships. They treat me like crap before and after the sale. It took me 7 hours to get an alignment done on my car at Toyota, with appointment. It's just been one bad experience after another for me. A lot of the work I've done my car (which isn't much) is so I don't feel like I'm driving my grandmother's car. Again, don't get me wrong, I like my car, and I love the stuff I see on this forum. But I just feel like Toyota is ho-hum the way they are moving. I can't believe Toyota's paint colors too. A toyota lot looks like an advertisement for an insomnia clinic.

    different dealer different service

I have a 2006 Toyota 4Runner Sport 4.0L. I take it offroading all the time and I have a few modifications done to it. The dealership in San Diego don't care. They care about my satisfaction. They warrentied some items that were debatable. Although I do agree some do not care about the customer. Like toyota of carlsbad. They are total jerks who only care about empting your pockets. They are the worst company ever. Luckly I went to Mossy Toyota last week. Otherwise, I would not deal with toyota again. You just got do some traveling to find a good one. Mossy is a 1hr and 1/2 a way, but it worth it. The carlsbad is 10 min away. The difference in service is worth it.
