when my brother had his 95 Camry we clay barred the entire thing after a pretty harsh winter in Salt Lake, looked absolutely amazing, but no pictures of it as he has moved on to an 01 V6 camry, soo much fun to drive

wash'n'wax soap every week. it has some primer spots, so im not super crazy about the upkeep right now.

Is there any purpose to claybar'ing a white car? other the fact its gonna feel smoother?

from what I understand, you claybar before putting wax on so it doesn't trap garbage under the wax that eats the clearcoat.. anyway I've got lots of paint flaws on my car, going to be detailing it in the next few weeks.. should be interesting as I've never done it in-depth before. planning to wash, clay, polish if necessary, sealant, then wax on top of that.. probably look the same since white car = white car

well after i get mine repainted again, i might look into it. I think polishing is gonna do more for me, to bring out the pearl affect of my paint.

apparently water is what eats your clearcoat.. car sitting in the rain, etc.

If you clay bar the car the best way is, Wash the car first then Clay Bar then Wash again and then add your wax.

I wash the car once a week and use Eagle One Wax as U Dry first then Meguiers Ultimate Quick Detailer to finish it off and I clay bar at least 2 times a year.

My car has a haze to it, and I don't know what I should do. I thought I should use rubbing compound. It was in an accident and someone used cheap paint, and its oxidizing(I think). But it looks like theres water spots even after I wash it. Any suggestions?

you probably have paint etching and oxidation. both can be fixed by a polish (assuming the cheap paint is 2-stage I think.. color layer and clear layer)

my car has the water spots problem, hopefully I only have to use a really light polish to get the job done. from what I read if you let the water dry on the paint and don't remove the water spots within 2 weeks it etches the paint.

So I should try a polish and if not then try the compound?

By the way I usually use Meguiars product. But I use the RainX wax as you dry, and it works really well. This was when I had a Jeep Liberty that I actually washed.

I would try polish before rubbing compound, much less harsh. doing it by hand would take a long time, I'm getting a dual-action polisher

Turtle Wax ice car soap, then turtle wax paste wax, then a coat of spray on wax is what I usually do. When I paint the car this spring it will be better taken car of.

My car after about 10 hrs of work. Wash, clay bar, wash, polish and wax.

I buff the car with 3M rubbing compound, then meguiars swirl remover then machine glaze for the final touch, then id use eagle one wash & wax but still after the car dries i use meguiars spray on wax, works like a charm, havent used zymol products yet but i will soon....

Both of my cars i detail:

i've used everything in the past and used to be a hardcore mothers fan but recently with meguiars 08 and 09 new products, i am moving towards meguiars as my fav. Not only is it easier to obtain their products for cheaper prices than what you can get from like germany and stuff but it also works pretty darn good.

I bought the Meguiars clay bar kit today, and I have Meguiars cleaner wax, and then paste wax that I want to use. Would the cleaner wax be the same as a polish. I already have it so I figured I'll try it first instead of buying a polish.

it's a wax with minimal amounts of polish. you need a polish first if you need to remove scratches. cleaner wax is more of a finishing product.

meguiars C2000 detailing clay is good stuff.. they make mild & abrasive
you use #34 mirror glaze final inspection as a lubricant for it.

I'm currently using Griots detailing clay w/griots speed shine lube but it ends up costing more than meguiars. next round I'm switching to megs

I'm still gathering products to clean my car up.. I want to make that white color glow like an ipod :)
