    Exhaust....

has gone kapeesh. You knw when it goes bad how u hear it rattlying. Funny thing was I drove it yesterday and not a hint of it, and I just heard it today when I started it, and also its pretty damn cold, you think it couldve been because of the cols and once it gets warm, the rattlying will go away. I just checked for prices and under a $100 I can get a new muffler, BUT i started lookin at aftermarket and i can get those also for under a $100. Now help me out, if i do need to replace it, what would you guys suggest? I found this website with a bunch of aftermarket exhausts.

im not sure, i was in the drivers seat, reved a lil bit and it sounded like the rattl noise was comin from underneath me, could it be just the catalytic convertor gone bad?

could be. better get it checked out before you decide. and FYI if you decide to go for muffler alone i support thermal r&d....and exhaust should be done custom job at a local shop. you will get a way better quality then if you buy a kit.

yea ill get that looked at, and well see bout custom work, see the reason i wanna go for an aftermarket muffler was cause it was bout the same price as the OEM, but if i get custom work, its gonna cost me and then i mught just go for the OEM if its end up costin me too much

OEM mufflers are expensive...yes aftermarket would be about the same price unless you score a good deal. i have my oem one but its old and crappy looking. custom work will run you in the neighborhood of 500 total. tahts parts and labor.

It also could just be a loose heat shield rattling. Im always finding loos heat shields on vehicles at work.

Yeah, thermal R&D sounds sweet. But they're kinda pricey. I got a Magnaflow for $20 on craigslist, I just have to go to a muffler shop and have them do the piping and weld it on.

my old rolla i had the catback thermal exhaust with the oval 3inch tip and it sounded really nice deep tone and not too loud.anyways if the catalytic converter is not the problem it could be the resonator.

I have the thermal r&d full catback, but before I had the midpipe installed I put only the axle-back on, and it was pretty sweet. MovieSTAR is correct about not getting a complete kit, the R&D on my midpipe is completely absent. It hits a lot of the heat shield.

Loud as hell though, definitely not legal.

If you're planning on getting a thermal muffler only, you'll have to bore out the flange holes or use smaller bolts+oversized washers on your stock midpipe because they're tiny and the thermal bolts and flange holes are huuuuge.

Sounds like it might not be just your muffler though....

Check Engine light with code P0135 Bank1 Sensor 1 heater circuit malfunction comes on everytime when I do a cold start with the ambient temperature about 40 degrees or below. After it warms up and I restart the car a couple of times the light automatically goes off. I changed the precat o2 sensor twice already with OEM Boush brand sensor. I changed the post cat o2 sensor with Boush sensor and still the same problem. Next step for me is:
    1) to check the resistance between the wire harness and the wire coming out the of ECU if that is the problem then I'll reroute a new wire from ECU to harness.
    2) If that is not the problem, check the voltage for the bank1 sensor1 sensor wires coming out of the ECU. If that is bad, replace ECU.
