    00 prizm engine help

I have a 00 prizm with a bad motor, what year motors can i put in to keep everything the same? If i would buy a 06 1zzfe would it be the same as mine, if not what would i have to change for this motor to work? Also i see many cars have the 1zzfe are there any differences between the models (celica, vibe, mr2, corrola, matrix)?

    Any info would be great.

if you are going to use the 06 1zzfe, you can just swap the block over to the old one. 06 1zzfe has Drive By Wire otherwise I would get a 03 or 04 1zzfe. If you plan to drop the whole 03+ engine in your prizm, you will have to do rewiring for the ECU, reroute radiator hoses, and custom downpipe. Or you can find a Celica GT 1zzfed which is rated at 140 crank HP. It has bigger valves and different tune, but they are pricey. I don't know if the Celica GT can be swapped over to the 00 1zzfe and run without ECU swap since no one has done it.

I would think if the Celica 1zz was tuned differently you would need the different ECU. And also remember one of the benefits about going with the 03-04 1zz is you burn less oil.

Dr. Tweak sells a harness so you wouldn't have to do anything, but plug it in.

so these harnesses just plug into the existing plugs so that there is no wiring? is there a website for these?

I found a 02 1zzfe from a corolla. Would i need to change the plugs/head in this motor? or would it just be bolt in.

^^ It doesn't seem like he changed the ECU or harness, and he used an 07 motor. Is it really necessary then?

just change the ECU and harness, it cant hurt and will only cost you a few hundred more dollars.

I honestly wouldn't know, but it appears if you have non vvti you might. I'll need a new engine or engine rebuild soon. :D

Oh, I guess since plu has a 98, then his harness wouldn't work because he didn't have vvti

ok you found a 02 long block from a corolla all you have to do before bolt it in your engine bay is to change out the old to the new water pump, timing belt, alternator belt, valve cover and head gasket i think i forgot something but you get the drift do all that and you dont have to worry about anything breaking.oh forgot if you got a 5spd do the clutch too if not just inspect your stock tranny before piecing everything together for a good cause, aight.
