yes having no catayltic converter(straight pipe)will make the db louder.i suggest looking for a high flow cat if you want to add alittle extra hp.

if it has a CARB EO# it will definately pass. If it doesn't and you don't trigger a CEL than it might pass if the smog tech is too lazy to get on his hands and knees to look under your car for a cat.

Are there very many exhaust parts that have carb numbers?

A high flow cat won't really add that much on our platforms. I would understand if it was a high revving or high horsepower machine, but it's just not worth it.

    not for corollas, no

but anything after the cat -> catback exhaust does not need CARB exemption.

damm sucks about the ticket. Not as bad as what happened to me. A cop was a lunch and I pulled up to grab some food. He walks to my car and tells me my exhaust is too loud. Then he tells me to pop my hood. He sees my intake. He then gives me a ticket for loud exhaust and for my intake. I had to take it to a smog referee which is 45 mins away. I get to the smog ref and he tells me that he can't pull my car onto the dyno. So I had to drive home 45 mins again and get my front kit taken off. Also I had to get my exhaust taken off because it was too loud. Eh...cops suck. They break the law their damm self and they bitch about shit we do. But when you really need a cop it takes them 2 hrs to get to you screw them,,,

because his dyno was retarded...it isn't like other shops where the dyno is in the floor. This guy had the dyno on a little ramp small with a steep incline. My front body kit wouldn't clear it. He wouldn't let me take the bumper off in the lot because of insurance reasons...oooh well

no one should bitch about tickets for modifications since people know that the mods are illegal. if you want don't want tickets than don't mod your car, but its part of the territory.

Is it now? If it wasn't against the law, why would you get a ticket for it then?

congrats! remember to keep te test certificate in your glove compartment so you can shove it in the face of the next cop who's trying to be a douchebag and pull you over for modified exhaust.

the modification is illegal if the sound is over the 95 db level. Only way to know is to get a ticket and have to get it taken care of. living in california you should know its going to be a pain in the ass to mod a car. i was born and raised in so cal and i still modded my cars and i knew i was prone to get tickets.
