just wait untill you start playing electric guitar or even worse bass ... naw there easy but its very strange when you think that 4 strings are harder to play than 6. its more of a workout for your fingers.

I've been playing for about 10 years.

Thats cool Eric. One good thing about starting on an acoustic is that usually they have heavier strings (.012) than standard electrics (.009). This will toughen your finger muscles and give you a good callous. Then when you play an electric it will be like butta!

Already learned a song, cool! Keep at it. At first most people struggle with guitar because, initially its more painful to play than most instruments. Once you build up callouses and more dexterity you will see alot of things open up for you. The first 6 months is the toughest. Learning chords, scales, theory, etc. can be boring at times, but a good teacher will make it fun for you by associating techniques with popular songs. It's good to learn a song or lick while learning the technical stuff so you get a good balance of knowledge and enjoyment.

:) You will be as good as Dave! Just keep at it.

^^^^ how'd those get mixed up?

I play a little bass but my forte is the violin- I played through elementary, middle, and high school. Now that I'm in college now I don't have time for it- and it does help since I already had callouses. Now, though, I just play the drums
