    8.18.08 Decker Canyon run

We decided to go fro a canyon run last night. I didn't end up taking my car, but took my friend's AE86 instead with my other friends AW11 MR2. It was a pretty moderate run, but on the last stretch, we decided to take it hard. We misjudged a sharp left turn and ended up crashing, or rather running up the side of a slope off the side. The 86 ended up 3 wheeling it, so it was a little hard to back it out of the ditch/slope. We ended up popping it in neutral and pushing it out.

    The turn.

No, we didn't drift it. We were just gripping. My friend initiated the turn correctly. The entry speed was just too fast on the downhill.

There was no damage to the 86 luckily.

Cops don't travel that route for good reason. A cop recently died while chasing a car through the canyons on another route.

But either way, we didn't drive it hard. The only exception was that one turn. It was mostly a cruise.

We don't drive competitively and definitely do NOT condone any racing. It's just spirited driving at everyone's own pace. Sometimes we just get a little carried away.

yep some of those hairpins on decker are scary... those blind corners... you don't know if after the apex of the turn if the road goes downhill or up. and there's dirt on the road too, you can lose grip...

I know the turns pretty well know since I'm been on Decker over 30 times easily. But the turns are still scary.
