cut or bang in the fire wall to clear the distributor or relocate the distributor. Water line kit or weld the head to re-route water lines and thermostat. GT-S gas tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, custom wiring harness w/ecu or EDIS or megasquirt.

If you cut into the firewall, you'll need to fabricate a new firewall or else the cabin noise will be unbearable. The 20 valve is a beast. :D

It's actually a common swap these days in the ae86. Check out club4ag as they can help you alot better with the ae86s.

    i have done this swap.

a simple way to do the firewall is to cut it and use a household sheetmetal switchbox. banging it works too, but i didnt like fitting the engine, and refitting over and over again to check clearances. itll be easier to place, and replace, the engine if you have no power steering though.

waterlines can be done very easily and cleanly with copper plumbing lines and fittings, just make sure you get the plumbing to the radiator right, you dont want it flowing backwards.

and for the swap i did one of the kids friends actually just tied the 20v harness and ecu into the factory harness. but plug and play MS kits are readily available, or other EMS solutions depending on what youre willing to spend.

youre also going to need a GTS bell housing to bolt you engine to the trans. i wouldnt suggest depending on the sr5 rear axle for long either as it is much weaker than the already WEAK gts rear end. and to fit the gts rear end you will also need the gts driveshaft.

and i once heard through the grapevine that you dont need to swap tanks, just install a gts fuel sending unit/pumps into the sr5 tank.

Pretty much somes it up, but you dont need the GTS tank, just pop in the sending unit with the a new fuel pump and you will be good to go. The SR5 bellhousing can be used, but it is not prefered cause the slave cylinder will be right next to the exhaust manifold downpipe and is not good to have it there, but in the past I have used a SR5 tranny without problems.

Yes the rearends can be weak for anything over 230whp, but if you are just throwing in a stock motor for now, then your good to go. But do plan on upgrading the axles in the future. Many different rear axles you can go with.

For the distributor if you have to bang or cut the firewall, you can get sheet metal for around $16. Use cardboard to make a template of the area cut out of the firewall and cut and weld up your own box for less than $20

there arn't too many shops up here that has good tuning knowledge about Toyotas. You could check Blacktrax or FFtec, both charge up the ass. The best thing to do is DIY!
