    Tag Light Ticket

i went to watch the DARK KNIGHT with some friends....after the movie i drove home. on the way i went over this construction road that had a speed limit of 10MPH. i prolly went 20mph cuz the road was bad and the car was lowered. i noticed a police car behind me....and for sure a sec later he pulled me over. saying that the reason why i pulled u over was because i was going 30mph at a construction site that said 10mph... i looked at hijm like WTF??? he was like " why are u looking me like that?? u think i'm lying?. i was like no...i didn't see it and i didn't know i was going that fast. asked for my license and registration... and said i'm not gonna give u a ticket for speeding, but imma give u a ticket for the tag lights....my tag lights were gone.
this cop was being an ass, not because i got stopped for my tag light, i understand that, but giving me a hard as time.
my question is.....fix the light and bring it to a police station to show taht it works. but do i get points for that ticket??? cuz i asked him what to do. he was like fix it, got to station and show and go to court....
why should i go to court for??? should i just fix the light and show them that it's fixed??

No points. It's not an infraction. It's merely a fix it. The same goes for no front license plate.

He was being an ass while at the same time letting you off for 2-3x the speed limit in a construction zone?

fix it, go to the police station and show it to the pig, then go to the court house and pay the fine around 30 bucks.

it can turn into a arrest warrent if you don't get it done.

i know for sure that the cars in front of me and all the cars passing the construction zone were going 30mph, reason why i said he was an ass, was the way he talked and handled stuff. i understand the ticket for the taglight ( the night before , my friend and i got pulled over because one of his headlight was gone, but he just got an citation, a warning). i know he didn't clock me going 30mph, cuz i wasn't going 30mph.
anyways, i'm just gonna fix it and see...

you couldve gotten your license taken away for doing 30 in a 10.....not only that but its 2.5x the cost of a normal speeding ticket.

just fix the light and when you go to court tell them its fixed.

Since the road is bad and your car is lowered, you go faster than the speed limit? Do us all a favor and stay off the streets.

sometimes if you go slower you feel more of the bumps in the road

Yes. Please obey all traffic laws and posted signs. They're there for a reason.

Of course you'll feel more of the road if you go slower. The shock absorbers can't dampen all the bumps that fast at higher speed. Unless of course you have some really stiff shocks. :)

didn't think going 5-10 mph over the speed limit would have been a problem. anyways..changed the bulb and got the officer to sign the ticket and now to the court.

Why? He doesn't get a point on his record anyways if he just fixes it and shows it to them. He didn't get a speeding ticket. He got a fix it ticket.

^agreed, just apologize and say you'll be more careful next time and get out of there. when you try to complain, depending on the judge's mood, he/she may make you pay more...

Taking a cop to court who tried to help you out is not smart. I agree. FAIL

Go show them you fixed it and have it reversed. That's what taking care of a fix it ticket is all about.

Ok. That makes sense then. I suppose you should check all your running lights every month or so to make sure everything is working properly.
