According to CVC 27151a, no person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emiitted by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is not in compliance with the provisions of section 27150 or exceeds the noise limits established for the type of vehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with section 27200). No person shall operate a vehicle with an exhaust system so modified.
I have been personally popped by popo twice, so I went with the Magnaflow so that it would somewhat resemble stock. It's been a year so far... So if you get a ticket, just re-install the stock system and have it signed off by CHP and pay the fix-a-ticket fee.

i love magnaflow...ill have to get a sound clip of my civic and my mutt of an exhaust...ive got a DC Ceramic Header, magnaflow highflow cat, thermal r&d midpipe to a magnaflow axle back...

im sure u all know how raspy hondas get with a header and full exhaust but mine has none of that!! i love it, ill get a sound clip, idle to 3500 is quiet under normal driving...3500-7400 its looooooud, but i only hit that when im autocrossing on at the 1/4

ill have to find a road that i can open it up a little bit on the street for a sound clip
