sounds bad when i punch the gas. ill refuel with some 89 soon, went on small road trip and used 1/2 a tank. it smelled funny the whole time i was driving i was scared i was going to pass out from fumes so i opened a window hahaa. why would that help?

i was thinking at dinner it might be unburned fuel im smelling coming from my exhaust...and i might ahve a broken valve spring...which is the noise i hear.

What's the name of the place? Maybe I can check it out online if they have a website or something. I want to look for some alloys and some other OEM parts I need.

a rebuild isn't cheap. by the time you add up the parts, machine work, labor, etc. it gets very expensive. i looked into just rebuilding my gze and it was going to run $1500 with some oem and some performance parts. have you looked at jdm engines? importers are hurting and letting them go pretty cheap.

i was asking what is needed for a rebuild...and not for your opinion.
i was looking at some parts and it is going to cost me 2grand if i do it my self...3 - 6 if i take it somewhere. or i can drop an mwr 1zz in for 3grand...but then id need to get all the wiring...or i can buy my neighbors focus for 4grand with 100k miles and just leave it stock.

^^ Agree. You could get another Corolla with 100k for $4k if you're patient. I got mine with 103k miles for $3400 in February of last year

i apologize, i was trying to say that a rebuild usually isn't cheaper than picking up a new longblock. how extensive of a list of parts do you want? You looking to rebuild with stock or performance parts? Looking to rebuild the whole thing or just the head? let me know and i can help put together a list of parts and what would need to be done

Definitely drop the 4g's on the rolla, Ford is not worth 4k with that many miles, you'll have more problems with that car than what you already have with the rolla and then have 2 messed up cars.

probably the whole thing...i need to pull the top off and take a look...i did last summer and i needed new valve seals and stuff. i need to compression test it again too...and if thats the case it sounds like id need...to re-bore it...with new seals and gaskets and such..

well here are the internals that make up the inside. what parts to replace would have to be decided when you actually open it up. what quality of parts to put in is also up to you.

pistons and rings (should also come with the wrist pins)
    main bearings
    rod bearings
    connecting rods
    freeze plugs
    valves
    valve seals
    valve springs
    retainers
    cams
    a complete gasket kit

you have many options for most of the parts. for instance, different thicknesses of headgaskets and differnet bore sizes and compression ratio of pistons. I would talk to Evan at NextGenTuning.com and see what he can do for you.

Yea make sure to do quality parts if you do internal work and do your research. I would go all out if I was you since the engine will already be apart just bore the thing out and get stronger internals.
