    factory GPS

I was so wondering why it costs so much to add factory GPS after you buy he car?? I'd like to add it to my 09 corolla but they quoted me 5000 dollars. Why would it cost such a high amount.

I guess it's no longer convenient to do so anymore. Plus, it's the stealership. They'll try to rip you off as much as possible. Why not just upgrade to an indash navigation like Alpine or Eclipse? They look like factory setups.

Because now you have both the regular unit and the gps unit, so you have two things, two bezels, wiring etc. If you take gps from dealer when you buy the car, they minus the cost of the stock head unit. Regardless just go aftermarket gps or get a dual-din aftermarket in dash unit.

Get a Garmin Nuvi 350. You shouldn't spend more than $300-$350. And it can be updated via SD cards.

I'd like factory to be honest and I dont want to go with alpine because then I can't use my steering wheel controls. And what separate wiring do I need on a factory gps other then the sensor??

Most cars have an adapter harness available for the wheel controls. Try looking for that.

I never go to the stealership. My friend had his car serviced for the first and last time. We found out they tried to sabotage the car by unplugging some of the buttons on his console so that he would have to go back. We found the problems and plugged them back in, but seriously... really shady shit going on. I don't even trust them for factory oil changes. They'll rip you off any chance they'll get. There are only a few Toyota dealerships that won't do that and that's because it's a headquarters dealership.
