gettin my wisdom teeth pulled in less than 2 hrs...

im kinda nervous but im more worried about how ill be in the aftermath. my bros cheeks puffed up like one of those fish, my friend barely showed any sign of swollen face. i suppose different people react differently. oh well. we'll see how it goes...

Don't worry about it too much.
Are you having gas or IV sedation?
Mine was perfect. IV sedation, was done in about 20 minutes, and I was on solid food by the end of the day (dentistry background in the family, so I knew it was ok). Mind you, I started my pain killers and antibiotics a day or so earlier ...
    No swelling or anything.
My sister on the other hand got dry socket (infection basically) in three of hers, which put her on the couch for almost a month on a bunch of painkillers.

    Dont worry about it.
I've been in a lot of surgery (read: hockey, amateur playground football, etc).
Many injuries and pre-planned surgery. It's not all that bad.

It's not too bad, I got the IV injection which knocked me out. They also gave me some laughing gas cuz I was REALLY nervous. The only thing that sucked for me was my jaw was REALLY sore/swollen afterwards. It took about a week before I could really open my jaw and swollow real food.

I got dry socket in my bottom ones... but thats because I had an allergic reaction to the IV solution and got sick and lost my stiches.... and then I smoked like the next day cause my brother was going in to the hospital with a brain tumor so I was a little stressed out.

I was allergic to the pain killers and the blood clotting stuff so I was spitting out tons of blood and my mouth was swollen for a couple of days.

I had mine pulled recently, and I was perfectly fine. I forgot to take the antibiotics until I was healed, and no infection. No swelling, bleeding, only a slight dull throb that a small amount of painkiller took care of. But I do know that they are some horrible doctors out there. I hope that you'll be alright. :(

yup had all 4 done at once as a precursor to my surgery this coming summer. wasn't too bad at all, just felt weird cuz of swelling.

Im ALOT more worried about my jaw surgery this summer. the idea of having my jaws hanging from just tissue while he positions them and bolts em back up is a little scary.

Mines where surgaically removed, cause the lower ones where sideways pushing into my molars. My tops where going back into my head.

The only thing that they have to worry about is not damaging or breaking the nerve in your jaw that controls your sense of smeel

they drilled my bottom ones and pulled out my top ones. i was conscious the whole time. they put the nitrous gas on me and numbed me. the whole process took maybe 40 minutes, but it felt really shorter. right now i am fine cause i took my meds, they gave me amoxacillin vicodin and motrin. i didnt take the vicodin. i have slight swelling but i anticipate tomorrow morning to be worse with the swelling.

Thats what I said, till I heard that the way my wisdom teeth would die and then rot in my teeth and then cause dry socket which would be a lot more painful them having them removed

Yeah, until they get infected like mine did.

I was put under...woke up and they were done. Recovery time of 3 days....got to lay in bed, watch movies, play PS2....I rented 10 movies, and bought a few new games before hand.

Wasnt as bad as I was expecting, and the drugs were good!

Well it seems like most people here have had a pleasant experience after the dentists appointments and what not... I had to lay down in bed when my surgeries took place for about a week or so said the doc BUT I couldn't stay still so I went out to play soccer when my mom wasn't home hehe :D....most might think it's stupid, I thought so myself BUT what can I say it's all about the love of the game

My g/f got hers removed and she was conscious. They didn't know what they were doing, and shot novacane into the wrong nerve which numbed the inside of her ear. Well that means your equalibrium is messed up and she was feeling really bad. Her cheeks swelled up for about a week or two. This was at a medical clinic for native americans. That place is notorious for lousy service and incompetent practice. Most places I've heard of actually do a good job. I still need mine out. I'm waiting until the end of summer...

If you know they wont upset your stomach go ahead and take them, otherwise stick with the Ibuprofen. When I had mine done the perscription painkillers made me feel worse cause of the nausea

dont be, its seriously not that bad.
