the movie is about creationist extremists. If you are a super hardcore Christian, you'll probably like it or think its kind of interesting. For all other ppl, you'll think WTF? If you are an Atheist, you'll be horrified.

While creationism is touched upon, its hardly based solely on creationist extremists.
Basically it follows three kids that are part of the Evangelical Church. Mainly the hardcore pentecostal followers imposing their culteral imperialism on others.....speaking in tongues, assuming that anyone that doesnt have the same level of beliefs as they do are "dirty" or "lost".....there is also a part about how this generation of Evangelists being the most important, as they can change the world in regards to abortion. Ted Haggard also makes an appearance in this film....who himself has been a part of controversy recently....by buying meth and having a cash relationship with a male prostitute.

I was shocked that there are children being raised this way. Its cultish. I see very little difference in the mindset that the children in this film show to those that were just taken out of the polygamist compounds out West.

I was also very surprised to see that almost 1/3 of Americans are part of the Evangelical Church. Im still doing more research on it, as I think that the portion of Americans that are hardcore and practice like those in this film make up a small portion of that 1/3. At least I hope so!

Theres a part in the film when the camp pastor goes off on a tangent about Harry Potter being a warlock, and that he should be put to death.

My wife had signed my son up for a week long camp at one of the local churches, and she found out last night that it is an Evangelical Free Church, so we are looking into it more thoroughly and he may not be attending that camp.

    Its definately interesting....

I especially like the part where the camp pastor prints out a sign that says "those that sin are punishable to death", and she used a font that is dripping in blood.

Not sure if thats the exact wording, but pretty close.

we are all brain washed in a way as we grow up. taught different things. but some of us come to realize that some things in life that we were taught as a child is wrong or weird. I just hope those kids in that movie later realize how weird some of the things that they do are.

Yeah I've seen it... I have as much admiration for extremist christians as I do for extremist Muslims. They take their beliefs to a whole other level by which they feel it is their way or no way. In doing so we already see what extremist Muslims do with that kind of mentality and we've already seen what Christians can do with that... (*see the Crusades*) If it weren't for the laws we have in place today I honestly feel those particular groups of Christians would probably go to almost the same extremes as the modern day Muslim extremists do.

Personaly my beliefs dictate that I am a Christian by definition in that I strive to follow the example of Christ. While I believe FIRMLY and ABSOLUTELY that ANYONE should have the RIGHT to believe what they will... I have no doubts in my mind that the Christ I read about in the Bible and have come to know through the stories about him would in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM support some of the things I saw on that video.

Keep in mind that is my personal opinion and if you cannot give me the same courtesy I give you in believing what you will... You can kiss my ass.

i remember this movie being released a while ago. the big quote in the news about the lady talking about harry potter. the one statement that stuck out to me was that 73% of home schooled kids are evangelist. that is the only chance they can really "brain wash" their kids with the message they "think" is right. i also couldn't believe that the lady would quote how muslims raise their kids, like that is the right things to do.

These kids are the ones who are now bucking the trend that homeschooled kids are smarter or get a better education than those educated by a public/private school. When it comes to the life sciences, they fail horribly. I got my creationist "education" at home...but my evolution education at school. These kids aren't getting that.

The only difference between these people and extremist muslims is that, so far, none of the evangelicals have strapped dynamite to their kids' chests to prove a religious point.

You guys aren't in the south...count yourselves lucky. These folks are EVERYWHERE here. Think Mike Huckabee......everywhere you look.

Here's a link to one of the may fundamentalist baptist hellfire and brimstone schools in Memphis. You know, this school won't even allow kindergarteners to have cartoon character backpacks.....it's "worshipping a false idol" and they expect students through HS to adhere to the school's dresscode OUTSIDE of class. One of my friends got stuck in this school back in 95, got caught at the mall in a miniskirt by an administrator, and was all but expelled from the school in the 9th grade.

One more notch on the 'why i moved out of the south' board... :)

The only problem is - the second highest concentration of em is in Colorado Springs, Colorado... 75ish miles south of me.

I dunno... personally it freaks me out to see people doing that to kids. It's one thing to teach your children morals and values but to turn them into obviously brainwashed copies of yourself? That's just wrong.

I finally saw this movie over the weekend. I am pretty sure it's child abuse. It is no different than the cults that have been discovered recently and/or in the past. They're just starting early. I feel for those kids. What about that one little boy, the one with the shaggy blond hair? How he felt SO guilty over doubting God and whatnot, and he was trying so hard to have the Holy Spirit be inside of him. That poor kid is already a free thinker. When he's older he will realize that isn't the way to lead your life. You need to respect everyone's decisions, especially those of people you do not know.
