Honesly, It doesn't bother me. To me people that try to be like everyone else are just fake. It takes balls to admit your gay and I respect that. People are so stereotypical these days and just judge people before they even get to know them. There are some people at my school who are bi/gay and they are really good friends of mine. Its all opinion I guess. Here in Wisconsin gay marriage is banned or against the law or whatever. To me thats wrong its like saying african americans cant marry caucasians bc they are a different race.

Are you for or against it corollarider19?

I'm against it on spiritual grounds. I believe marriage was intended for one man and one woman. Anything besides that is not marriage.

My upbringing in a Christian household and learning what is said in the Bible for my 22 (so far) years. Marriage is defined as a man and a woman.

Here's a bible verse for you (explains my belief:( Leviticus 18:12

"Lie not with a man as one lies with a woman, that is detestable."

If anyone doesn't like my belief, then they have that freedom. I believe gay/lesbian relationships are wrong.

God also promoted incest then. What would you do if you fell in love with a girl and found out before you got married that "Michelle" was really a Michael when born, would you still be against gay marriage?

Incest back then would have been unavoidable. If Adam and Eve were the first 2, then where would future generations have come from? Even if there were 100 more couples out there, there would be incest somewhere down the line. However, according to the bible, man lived very long back then. More than 100 years. It doesn't specify, but it seemed that some people lived to see great grandchildren and such. However, if you've taken genetics and evolution courses, you know that incest increases the chances of mutations that can decrease the lifespan. Therefore, over time, incest has reduced mankind's lifespan to about 80-100 years of today.(It makes sense.) So in my makeshift hypothesis is that if no incest had occurred, we would be able to live for hundreds of years with damn near perfect DNA. Coming from a Christian upbringing and yet being a skeptic and majoring in cell biology, I've brought the two inharmoniously together. LOL :D Another point is that cancer evolved as a limit to mankind's lifespan, indicating that a person is not supposed to live as long as we are now. This would prove my previous hypothesis wrong. But nevertheless, it's an interesting concept to play around with. As a skeptic, I'm not sure how credible the bible really is. Many parts are retellings passed on by word of mouth and skewed by bias and different points of view. I'm sure there's some truth to it, but there are many ways to interpret the bible. It's like how many can manipulate the law due to it's vague wording. Different factions such as that strange sect in Texas also interpret the bible in a totally different way. There are no concrete definitions. It's more like guidelines... (Sounds like the line out of Pirates of the Caribbean. :D) However, I do take the 10 Commandments rather seriously. Using common sense, you can tell that those were rules set to preserve mankind while allowing enough freedom to everyone.

    Excuse my rambling. :D

It IS legal in California now. I'm glad that our state is one of the first to be a safe haven for people who have been discriminated against or worse.

Doesnt bother me in the least.

The Bible may be against it, but not everyone is religous. Not everyone believes in a God.

Hopefully in the future (sooner than later), the US will be more tolerable of gay marriage. There WILL be a time when its not an issue anymore. The current generation will be raised to be more tolerable and to have a more open mind on the subject.

Just like those that are religously against it now, there was a very high percentage of people that were passionately/adamantely against civil rights for blacks and women. Now we have a woman and a black man in the running for the US presidency. Times will change, and for the better.

Its one thing to be against it for religous purposes, but to expect the US government to follow your religous beliefs is wrong.

Gay marriages do nothing to effect my life in any way, so who am I to judge. I for sure wont let anyone influence me.

If conservative Judaism can have an open mind about it, the Christian community should as well.

i am very pro gay marrige. I know more gay couples who have more love to offer than many man/woman couples. I didn't know California now allowed gay marriges. Thats cool. I wonder if my friends are getting married now..

I don't think so. California is pretty liberal as a whole. Many thing originate in California before spreading to other states. Look at stem cell research for example.

WOOOT her S.O. is so pretty :D

I am catholic but I am for gay marriage. I agree that the bible has passages that can be interpreted to be anti gay but there are also passages that are neutral. I am sure that a bunch of gay people actually read the bible already and have pointed those out already.

what bothers me about this is that people that are the most "religious" like to say one thing and do another. catholics are against gay marriage, but they are pro molesting kids and hiding it. i think if you want to follow the bible then do what it says instead of being selective. do you watch two girls together whether it is via photos or videos? every guy likes that, but there can't be a double standard.

i am pro gay marriage. it does nothing to affect my life.
