    Changing the rubber?

I was wondering about this for a while, how hard is it to change the tire? I don't mean the entire wheel, but just the tire. I've read somewhere that it's hard, but how do you guys do it?

it's not really hard but you have to have something to break the bead on the tire I just do mine at work with our machine

I don't have a machine, so it has to be manual labor...

you can do it manualy you have to remove the meteal piece in the valve stem once all the air is out you have to put enough pressure on the tire to make the seal pop off the rim then your can carefully flip one edge of the tire over the lip of the rim with a screwdriver or something like that after you get the first side off do the same for the remaining side take a little force to get it started but once it its started it will come off pretty easy then spray some like wd 40 on the inner edge of the new tire to pop it on and once it's on replace the little metal piece and refill with air and your done. hope that helps .

You gotta get everything balanced after the wheel is mounted, which requires use of a one of them electronic balancer thingies at tire shops.

It's a real fucking pain in the ass for 17" 40 series. Spent 2 hours unsuccessfully using the tire machine at Toyota.

Yeah, we had used a nice tire machine for my 16" wheels and low-pro tires. It took two people and 3 extra prybars to get the tire to go on there. It took about 10 minutes per tire. It's like trying to stretch it around a wheel thats too big! It was a decent amount of work even with one of those tire mounting machines that don't touch the rim lip.

Just take it somewhere to get it done. You could probably do it yourself with a 14" stock wheel, but you would still need to get it balanced.

Mounting my 215/45/17 bridgestone s-03's which have a very very VERY stiff sidewall, took the tire place about 5 minutes per wheel to mount with only one person doing the mounting. They probably took a little longer to do the balancing, but that was also just one person doing it.
