    Scangauge II

    Scan Guage

Anybody have any experience with this? Some of the tundra guys are raving about it. Wondering if its worth the $159.

one of the guys at work used that in his 2500 ram and loves it... those things came with about as much computing power as the Apollo I, he also uses it sometimes to pull codes that our tools can't find...

My only concern, I haven't found anything that you can change tire dimension sizes. I've heard vague comments that you can, but I'm not going to get something that won't let me change the fact I don't have 31's anymore.

Appreciate that. Ask him if he has an concerns with it. All the product reviews I've read on it are just nothing but good.

scanguage is too expensive for what it is. but if you like the idea, then go for it. Everyone i know loves it. I almost bought one too but i just bought a regular obd2 scanner instead for half the price.

A crappy Actron Scanner is 55-60$ and just reads, translates and deletes CEL codes.
Scangauge II reads the computer and can function as 25 different gauges, as well as read, translate and delete CEL codes.

How exactly is Scangauge too expensive for what it is? Seems like a reasonable price for it's function. Not to mention the size.

Picked one of these up last week and plugged it in for the first time yesterday because I was curious about my personal fuel economy; not the prettiest unit out there, but serving its purpose thus far!

With regard to the previous post, just like MovieSTAR said, it is possible to set the ScanGauge II to output engine horsepower using the custom Xgauge feature. Haven't tried it out myself, but there is a vid on YouTube that shows how to do it (working on that this afternoon). All told, it's pretty sweet to have on-the-fly info from the computer. (I always wanted to know how many miles and gallons I had until empty so I could get the most out of every tank.)

Also, wheel size can be compensated for by using a percentage entered into the unit. From the ScanGauge site, they explain that "the approximate % to use for a tire size change can be computed by dividing the diameter of the original equipment tire by the diameter of the new tire, subtract this from 1 and multiply by 100. For instance, if the diameter of the original tires was 24 inches and the size of the new tire is 30 inches, 100x(1-(24/30)) = 20. Setting the value to 20% will compensate for the tire size change."

I'm still running on the stock 14s so everything should be running correctly.

That's odd...I got it to work...I found the codes for horsepower from the ScanGauge site. :) Maybe there's a difference in versions?

Sure! Just for reference, I have the ScanGauge II, and the firmware is version 3.15. I found the actual XGauge codes on the ScanGauge site, and the link is:

    http://www.scangauge.com/support/xgauge.shtml

I followed exactly what the guy in this YouTube video did and it worked perfectly on my 02 Corolla:
