KYB struts gone after 135k

you can use vice grips to hold the rod from spinning then take off the center nut.

I tried that. It didn't hold the rod from spinning. The metal to metal contact didn't have enough fiction I reckon.

oh ic. it worked for me though, gotta grip them on really tight.

i had the same problem, the nut thing, i used a rubber garden hose and a c clamp.

Ok.....All done.
And it took me 1hr 15 mins of using a hacksaw to get my seized old struts off the mount!!! The clamp trick did not work. And a Dremel would not fit in between the springs nor any other power tool. Only hacksaw. GRRRRR! The problem was that the strut mounts had rounded out the piston rod.






Now I have a NEW PROBLEM!!! The sway bar end link bolt has rounded out so the nut will not fit on. I will have to get a die and tap set tomorrow to recut the threads............cursed car.

disconect your rear sway bar for the "weeeeeeeeee" effect while driving. LOL

So what is your opinion on the Bilsteins ?

I'll let you know soon. I just got the endlinks in today. I've been afraid to push the car to the limit without a sway bar connected. And yeah the weeee feeling when you make turns into a intersection more than 20mph making you float over to the other lane makes me nervous. And I need an alignment too.

Okay. Got my alignment done. Can anyone interpret what these printouts that the tire shop gave me after it was done mean? I'm a noob.

I just got mine realigned today too. My printouts looked almost the same. LOL I'm just too lazy to explain it here. Wiki caster, toe, and camber. It'll all make sense.

The rear camber is a little out of spec.

After 600 miles on the Bilstein struts, I conclude that the difference between the KYBs and Bilsteins are not noticeable. They both felt the same when hitting bumps and when turning. Whether or not the Bilstein last longer is unknown, but the KYBs lasted quite a while. Just remember that the 98-02 rear struts do not fit and to use the 93-97 rear struts.

where did u order those endlinks and is that the rear one in the picture?

yea, that is the rear one. I got it from RockAuto.com for $16
