    What are the signs when.....

What are the signs that tell you when an Automatic transmission is about to give out?

leaks, falling off the car, smoke.. what problem are you having?
sometimes rough shifting can be something as simple as a broken spring.

well engine light or anything comes on so far.... but the car still tries to kill and what not when I come to a complete stop. I've changed EVERYTHING that I know to my knowledge that could be wrong with it, such as Spark Plugs and wires, PVC valve, fuel injector cleaner and it still does it so I dk. One of my friends told me that it could be that my tranny is going out, but it doesn't clink or anything that u guys describe so I dk.... I just need to find a quick answer to this problem cause it's starting to worry me since I don't want to be left out in the middle of nowhere if the car decides to go on me and I dk what it is...

If it does end up being the tranny, I've got a '98 Auto right in my shop that needs a home.

But it doesn't seem like that's the problem. Have you checked the map sensor? What about the idle bypass valve? TPS? Fuel pressure?

alot of times when the cars at work are stalling out like that it's the idle air control valve.

Add that you need to check your distributor.....before, when i came to a complete stop and idled, my car's idle would seem to bounce and want to die....after i bought a whole new distributor, it worked fine and fixed the problem...

    Ok, here's what you do:

    1. Park the car on a flat, open area with lots of space around, in neutral with e-brake off.
    2. Rev the engine and bounce it off the limiter.
    3. Shift to D.

If it blows up, you needed a new tranny. If not, it's good for another couple of years or so. :teeth:

Ok seriously I don't know when a tranny is going bad, but I remember a long time ago when the tranny went out on our old Grand Voyager, it had problems shifting and such (getting stuck in gears), IIRC.
