Which wheels are better?

I'm looking for some lightweight wheels. I was looking at the Konig Helium because they weigh about 11 lbs. Then I found that the Rota Attack weighs only 10 lbs. I know everyone says that they are both knockoffs, and I should get Volks, but I don't want to spend more on my wheels than I paid for my car.

Rota
Pros: lighter weight, 5 spoke design
Cons: Rice??

Konig
Pros: they're not Rotas, more color options
Cons: weigh more than Rotas

I like the 5 spoke design of the Rotas. Will they fit a Corolla because they have a smaller hub bore than the Konigs.

Oh and I've searched and can't find anybody that is running the Rota attacks on this forum, before rollatuner tells me to search first.

i would almost always take Konig over Rota.

Well I emailed JLB Motorsports, this is how the conversation went

Me: I have a 2000 Corolla, and I'm looking for the lightest weight wheel possible. I know the Konig Helium is a really light wheel, but is there anything else that maybe lighter. I'm open to all sizes 14"-17"

JBL: Absolutely nothing beats the Helium 15x6.5 in price/pound ratio. Also
the Helium is TUV/JWL/VIA/ASE certified. Most wheels are only JWL/VIA
if even that. ;]

Me: Well what about the Rota Attacks, I just found out that they only weigh 10 lbs. Wouldn't these be better?

JBL: The attack is not 10 lbs that is a blatant LIE by whoever posted that or they are ignorant or never actually held an Attack before. The Attack weighs 12.5-13 lbs a piece. No where near as light as the helium.


So I guess that answers that question, and for anybody else that might consider this. Now I just have to save some money to get the Heliums

Get the wheels you like and don't let others persuade you otherwise. The Heliums are great wheels. I've had them for over 5 years and they have never failed me, even going over potholes and uneven highway pavement at fairly high speeds. You'll notice the car will handle easier and steering response will increase quite a bit. I know they're knock offs, but I love my wheels. I actually prefer them over the real Volks since they're lighter than the real ones. LOL But that doesn't mean I would take my wheels to the extreme. They're cast and they still can break.

We are talking about a difference of 4lbs so take the Konig wheels and poop before a ride.

I just did some research on the CE28N 8 spokes and they're 8-9 lbs a wheel and retail for around 480 a piece. Forged monoblock. I stand corrected. If I had the money, I would have definitely bought these instead.

I don't want to start another thread, so has anybody heard anything about skunk2 lowering springs? I've found alot of people using the coilovers, but I'm looking at the lowering springs. They are progressive springs and look pretty good. Oh, and I want to get some KYB's also

I really want to improve the handling and I figure with some lighter wheels and better springs I should be good. Anything else to improve handling?

rotational mass is like 5 times (or is it just 4 times?) heavier than none rotational mass.
So 4lbs on the rims is like 20lbs on the car.

if u want to get springs go with eibach. even cars built from the skunk2 themselves break down at the race track.

What about Vogtland. I've done some research on these and there was a really good write up about it for a Mustang. Also I've seen some people using them in a VW forum. I looked at the seller's feedback and I emailed someone that bought these a few months ago and he said that he would buy them again. And they're progressive.

Are the Eibach's progressive? I know that H&R is.

Eibach is progressive, yes.

I don't have any experiences with Vogtland so I cant comment much about them. I usally see them used by VW guys.

$480 a piece~~!!! That can buy you a whole set of Helium.

For spring, I think most us here are using Eibach or Tein. And for struts, most of us are using KYB2 or Tokico blue. Don't know anyone using Vogtland or skunk2.

They're discontinued so coming across a set in good condition is hard

I won't be selling those anytime soon. I would only sell them if I bought new wheels to replace them and I'm currently saving for a new car.

I have never seen those camber kits ever in my life. I don't even have the vaguest idea how they work. Are you sure they're camber kits?

If you go to the Eibach website, this is what they show. When I first saw it I was thinking, wtf? But I can kinda see how it works. But everyone on here has used the bolts.

Is there any difference in the rear and front bolts?

The front bolts are smaller, I think.. or was it the rear. in any case they install on the top bolt on the strut bottom mount to pivot the wheel hub to add or decrease camber. I use them to add camber.

They are almost brand new and the price was great. I convinced the guy to ship the wheels, and I think its definitely worth it to pay for shipping considering the price with tires.
