Engine my check engine light trouble!

my check engine light trouble!

i just tried to smog my corolla and it turns out my check engine light is supposed to be on but its off. also i was told that the light is supposed to turn on when you switch the key to on but it doesnt could it just be the bulb or could it be something else. i also have a elp cai and full exhaust on it it has passed smog before. any help is appreciated

Check the bulb first then check what code you are getting.

this is a common sense thing - if the bulb is not turning on, it's burnt out.

some of the other lights dont turn on either arent all the lights supposed to light light up on startup sequence
