    A local curse? Engine f*cked..

So I was on the way home from work when i realized i need to change my oil....i stop by an Autozone and pick up an expensive filter and 6 quarts of oil (only needs 4 to fill it up, but bought two extra cuz we all know that our 94's not only burn gas but oil too)....well I got on the highway and start getting on the highway and start to hear a knocking noise....the further i got down the road the louder and louder the knocking got....after about 6 miles on the highway, i pull off of it and exit off a city street...when the light turned green, i accelerated slower than ive ever accelerated before because i didnt want to hurt the engine too bad but at the same time, i wanted to get my car to a safe place where i could park it and still have peace of mind....it dies right as i get on an overpass that goes over the highway....i started it and it started right up...by this time, the knocking was pretty dayum loud....so i accelerated slowly again until i got to a downhill part of the road where i could put the car in neutral and roll it to this closed daycare place where its still right now as we speak and will be picked up by my dad when gets a trailer to put it on later today....

ya kno, the engine is just shot by this point and its the most ironic thing that 17 days ago, fastrolla96s engine blew.....now its my turn.....

Drop the pan and check out the rod bearings, it's possible that you'll be okay. How many miles does the engine have?

Then again, it sounds like you drove it a bit too much...

I'm sorry to say this, but I have a 94 with ~200,000 miles on it. My dad bought the car at 185,000 miles, and never (NEVER!) changed the oil. Kinda suddenly, it started doing the same EXACT thing you are talking about. There was a huge knocking noise that progressively got louder and louder. The car shook like crazy in idle. Eventually, it would stall in idle until it simply wouldn't start anymore. A tow (and $55 bucks) later, the diagnosis:

    THE ENGINE THREW A ROD!!!

Yes, the engine was trash. My dad :)D) had to pay $2000 bucks for a used engine, and the noise is gone.

Man, oh man, I'm really sorry to hear that this is probably what happened to your car.

Nah, it wasnt the oil lever.....as a matter of fact, i had checked the oil level on wednesday since i usually check it every two weeks and i remember putting in close to about a quarter of a quart of oil in. Even now, the oil level is fine...it does sound like a threw a rod or something tho...like it still starts but im scared to be around it cuz i feel like a rod or something is gonna shoot straight through my firewall or something, lol, but like what it sounds like is the piston head and the rod came apart and the rod keeps hitting the piston head or the rod smacking into the crank....it just sounds like horrible clanking....i was told before that when the knocking noise was minor and somewhat audible, that it could be a rod bearing and that my engine had at the most a year left before it had a major problem....i can say it was much shorter than a year...but im not too sure what im going to do....i want to keep my car and drop a new engine in it, but at the same time, i want a new car that has more giddy-up n go, kno wut i mean....btw, my car has 179,236 miles on it right now and its a 94....11 year old car, so it may have just been that its time had come....i dunno...but a new car would be nice...i'll find out more of whats gonna happen from here soon....
