You'd be surprised how much glare fog HIDs produce. I've experienced this first-hand, and its ridiculous. I applaud mattaveli for making the right choice. HIDs do not belong in fog light applications.

I personally would sill consider HID for my fog lights even after reading all those articles.. I'm a slow reader so the damn thing took almost an hour to read through the whole ... i think 4 different websites. Read for me still wanting HID's for Fogs is because unlike most people, I don't usually have my fogs on. But I do put them on at night in very dark areas or in the fog or in the rain.

In the article and even in the youtube video, their main concern was the fact that the light glared and would bother others around you. The way I look at it, Fogs are lower to the ground so it won't glare as much to the oncoming traffic and even if it did, some cars you can adjust the angle which the light beam is hitting. I also love the fact that some fogs will light up the sides better so especially when i'm driving through canyons with no light in the fog, it helps quite a lot.

As for my headlamps, well right now with my current bulbs, im perfectly happy so i don't know if i'll ever consider buying HID for it.

    ------------------
    Off subject a little:
I still want more fog lamps... I want at least 6 more hella fog lamps or something. LOL

^^Exactly. They are lower to the ground so not much glare will blind oncoming traffic. The cutoff shields they include also help reduce the glare.

guys for the 93-97 prizm's, now u have H3 and H4 for high and low beam, so if i get HID's i need to get em for both? or else it would look awkward wont it?

You can get them for either, but I agree that only having HIDs for fogs and halogen for headlights would look disproportional. However, HIDs in the headlights and halogens for fogs look fine.

3600K is still more yellow looking than 4300K. It just might look like it's whiter from pictures.

I wouldn't consider HIDs for fogs either. At this point, I don't really need any additional light. I have a really nice set of projector fogs right now that I might keep.

i'm quite happy with the piaa h3's for my fogs and am trying to find a local distributer for the hir bulbs you see the spec sheet for them, 2500 lumins@13.2v that's hella bright...lol no pun intended, they produce the same heat as oem and use draw the same power as oem, 110% brighter then oem at a cost of $30/bulb and there 3600k bulbs so there little less whiter then silverstars but whiter then oem.

I had PnP HIDS in my 02 and had no problems...had to take out the center reflector thou and then lowered light output a little as not to blind other drivers.

I'm just gonna get projectors retrofitted at this local shop. That way, I can safely go 50w low beam :)

I went with ebay hid kit. The glare was crazy at first. I aimed the headlights down quite a bit and i've never had anyone highbeam me. Retrofit is def the way to go if you can.

picked up a set of eurolites 2500k 9006 bulbs on the clearence rack tonight, $15 for 2 bulbs, i couldn't pass it up, anyways these bulbs are way more yellow then the piaa bulbs and at a fraction of the cost. but what gets me is that now my fogs are whiter than my lows and looks off so i may mod the yellow bulbs for the high beam socket and put the 4300k highs in the lows. still not sure...lol
