I'll get it welded shut for now and I'll install a flex pipe a little later.

I still haven't installed my Forza Header, and I have no clue what a flex pipe is. Does anyone have a pic?

Now I have a problem on my after market header.
    I have this header
    http://cgi.ebay.ca/STAINLESS-HEADER...1QQcmdZViewItem
You can see that the pipe after the collector is really really short, only around 2-3 inches. I don't think I can put a flex pipe there right?
So do you thing it's ok if I put the flex pipe after the header and before the CAT?

Yes you can because I'm doing that too. I was quoted 125 to have one installed. I'm sure I can get it done cheaper if I supply my own flex pipe.

I got it fixed. They welded it up all nice and tight. I regained all my power, eliminated the noise, and reduced the vibrations. They also found another leak after the cat and welded that too. That muffler shop does the best work. I'd recommend anyone to them. http://www.americanmufflerandbrake.com/

oh dont really care about the emblem because its just an exhaust header. i might have to put the flex pipe after the cat converter and the resonator. i dont think i have enough room before the cat - not especially if i get the 6 inch flex pipes

It's better to have it as close to the header as possible. It's no use if it's too far from the header.
Just cut the CAT and move it backward couple inches for the flexpipe man. That's what I'm gonna do, and I believe it's what rollatuner110 gonna do too.

hmmms. so we all have the same problems. the crack, and the rattling, and the forza emblem falling off. i dnt have a cat so putting a flex pipe would cost me more cash 2 get it fixed.

Well I got the crack welded up. All my acceleration and power is back and better than before. I'm just going to drive carefully over speed bumps and sharp dips so I don't disturb the exhaust system.

im finally gettin an estimate from another place. they said about 2 hours labor so thats about 100$ but i also told them to reenforce the welds on the header itself plus since i dont have the bolts for it, it might cost a bit more if its not the same size or whatever.

hey dude, do you know how they installed the header? did they slip it through the engine bay or beneath?

the mechanic said that there isnt room to slip through the engine bay because of the firewall, etc. and there's no way to slip through underneath w/o droppin the frame because its in the way.

but im thinkin that there's room from the top, please respond when u see this.

    That's so bs.
You can do it from the engine bay. Maybe your strut bar is in the way??

maybe, but even so, its easier to undo the strut bar than undoing the frame. i just tried to see how i can twist it on the way down to where it should be located and i think it should be okay.

ugh. could have been half way through installation with this by this time.

The mechanic doesn't know what he's doing. Are you telling me that I'm a better mechanic than he is since I installed the header myself which wouldn't fit? ROFLMAO. Bring it somewhere else to a more competent mechanic. Or you could install it yourself. You will need to remove the strut bar and cruise control if you have it.

werd, cool. i'll mention it to him. i really dont think he even checked from the engine bay because as soon as my car pulled into the garage, he just lifted it up.

so i installed the forza header with 6inch flex pipe. under acceleration when then engine is torque back i guess, i hear this noise and im pretty sure its the flex pipe. does this mean that i need a longer flex pipe or what?

    More problems!

I haven't gotten around to fixing my 2nd header leak yet and something else has broken. One of my two muffler hangers broke and now my exhaust is dangerously low to the ground. So now I have a leak AND I scrape over everything when I go over a bump or dips in the road. Jesus Christ! Luckily, I'm going to the muffler shop 7am on Monday. I'll just have to limp it to work slowly before then. So when I get the flex pipe put in, I'll have to patch the header again and have the muffler hanger fixed and the exhaust piping adjusted further up to avoid scraping(might require cutting and welding). I'm really starting to hate my car. I think it's time to sell it and finally get my WRX.
