I know this is a toyota forum and I am a big toyota person but I was wanting to know whats the most powerful engine you can directly bolt-in to a 91 honda civic dx? I would go to a honda site but im too lazy. Im not too knowledgeable about honda engines. Thanks.

That is not a direct bolt in... you currently have a D15 (92hp), you could swap in a D16 from the Civic Si of the same generation (108hp)... a JDM ZC (they are pretty cheap, and range from 115 to 130hp), a b16 (almost a direct swap, easiest way is to get the mount kit from hasport.com and it makes 160hp)... also, a b18 from an integra (140~142hp) would bolt in, but you would need an OBD1 conversion (or maybe OBD2 depending on the year of the motor) whic is usually a pain in the ...

the easiet and most common are the b16 and b18 motors... both are great and take to mods very well.

both of my cousins have 93 civics(one a turbo'd JDM b16 hatch and the other is a JDM b16) theres a kid round me that had an integra gsr and rolled it 3 times over, he took the motor out cuz it was still fine and put it in a 93 civic and it runs mid 14s

My brother has a 91 that he swapped a B16 into himself, he says it was dead easy, did it in a day because it is such an easy swap, B16's are really common, at least in Canada they are, and he found they were really easy to come across. The 91 gen is a really light civic, with that engine and the 5 spd, and he also has ignition, intake, full exhaust, eibach springs...etc, there is so much support, his car is crazy fast, he autocrosses it, and is really fast

Any D and B can be done without big changes. If you want tq, go look for a CRV B20 or just go get a B18 type R for hp. :)
You can't put K series eninge in without big mod. K series rotate on the opposite way than D and B series.
