I finally installed the Whiteline rear anti sway bar on my 2001 corolla. I don't know what to say. My ride was already [super] firm with my upgraded spring rates from ksport. Maybe i need to drive faster and turn harder to feel the upgade. FYI, I installed the 20mm adjustible rear anti sway bar. I'll have DIY pics up here tonight. I'm stoked that I finally installed it. Stay tuned!

How were the lines? Were they pinching?

i got the same bar at medium setting. what setting do you have it on? i love this sway bar.

i put it at firmest or strongest setting. pics will be posted tonight.

What does this bar help with? Handling and hard cornering?

On FWD cars a larger diameter rear sway bar help eliminate understeer by connecting the left and right shock bodies of the rear suspension. During hard cornering weight is shifted to the outside rear corner; the larger diameter bar would attempt to equalize the shock compressions between the two corners essentially lowering the contact patch of the inner rear wheel. Thus allowing the rear a greater chance to rotate through the corner.

Man, they are expensive. There are so many things on hold because I can't afford it at the time. LOL The rear would be more important than the fronts for us anyways.

DIY for 8th gen

This is a DIY installation guide of the WHITELINE rear adjustable anti sway bar for the 8th generation corolla. Shown on this DIY is a 2001 Toyota Corolla CE. Before installing this:
1) Your gas tank must be close to empty or siphon out the gasoline
2) You must have jack stands! *MANDATORY*
3) It's recommended you have a detatchable axle back exhaust pipe for ease of removal and installation of the rear anti sway bar

****DISCLAIMER****

I am not responsible if you have done any damage or if following the instructions on this specific DIY installation causes damage to your vehicle. If you wish to follow this DIY, do it at your own risk. This installation was based off of my experience. I'm not a professional mechanic. If you're not sure about anything, do not proceed with the install by yourself, seek professional help.

Read all of the instructions and observe all the pictures before hoisting up your vehicle to check if you're capable of doing the same.

1. New mounting bracket
2. Mounting bushing
3. Grease to slide mounting bracket
4. the rear anti sway bar

Raise your car on jackstands
------------------------------------------------

You HAVE to remove your wheels on both sides
------------------------------------------------



Unbolt the strut from the control arm knuckle (There are two bolts) and unbolt the upper sway link from your strut on both sides

Unbolt the stock mounting bracket. There are a total of 4 bolts. 2 on each side.
------------------------------------------------

Once the mounting brackets are loose, the stock anti sway bar, can move up and down. Move it downward.

Now you can access the lower sway link. Disassemble the sway link completely off of your stock anti sway bar.

There are 2 bolts holding up your gas tank. You'll see metal straps. Follow them to the frame of your car, and remove these bolts. It is important you have a very low tank of gas. Personally, the gas tank felt quite heavy even with 2 gallons left in the tank. Maybe becasue I was on my back with tools in my hands, I went to the gas station after the install for a test drive, and calculated I was doing the install with 2 gallons in my tank.

EXERCISE CAUTION!!!

After you lower the gas tank, you'll see an accordion like hose here in the picture. This is the driver's side view. That's the main hose coming from your filling spout. For ease of removal and installation of the anti sway bar, you can unplug this hose. BEWARE!!! CAUTION!!! You must have a close to empty tank or have already emptied your gas tank. If not, do not proceed!!! If removal of the anti sway bar is too difficult, have someone help you, or bolt everything back up and drive around for 50 miles. I didn't have to remove this hose. If you feel the tank is putting tension and pressure on your EVAP lines, raise the tank slightly with a jack. In my case, my hoses and EVAP lines were perfectly fine. USE EXTREME CAUTION DURING THIS STEP.

The removal of the stock rear anti sway bar may be difficult. In addition to lowering your fuel tank, you might have to disconnect your exhaust. If you exhasut isn't set up for this, again, get some help to wiggle the anti sway bar through the hoses.

DO NOT yank at the sway bar. Observe the area for the sway bar's obstacles. Move it out little by little.

The rear stock anti sway bar is removed. Compare it between the WHITELINE.

Carefully wiggle in and install the aftermarket rear anti sway bar. Loosly assemble the supplies mounting bracket so that the new anti sway bar can wiggle and rotate.

Raise up the gas tank. If you disconnected the spout hose, connect it. If you disconnected your exhaust, connect it back together.

This is an adjustable rear anti sway bar. I set my bar to the hardest setting. S soft, M medium, H hard. Assemble the lower swaybarlink to both sides.

This is specifically a ksport issue. If you have a similar setup from a different suspension company, follow this. Or skip to the next paragraph.

Loosen the sway link mount Lower and lower it untill the upper the sway link bolt reaches the sway bar mount on the strut. Attatch and assemble the sway link to the strut. Do not tighten and affix the sway link on the ksport.

If you have a stock setup, go ahead and attatch and assemble the sway link to the strut.

Tighen the rear anti sway bar brackets. Afterwards, from the previous step, tighten all swaybar link bolts.

Bolt on the strut to the control arm knuckes on both sides. Double check everything is tight. I counted 6 bolts. Put back your wheels, lower your car and enjoy.

No. The stock bar is 14mm. The replacements are 18 and 20mm.
