HIDs have 3 wattage types, 35W, 50W, and 7_?W. Sure you can buy bulbs that look like HIDs but it can't compare when it comes to genuine HID light output.

You would need to change out everything, the ballasts and the filaments. I'm happy with my 35W for now. Later I might get a 50W bixenon 6000k HID kit. 9000k looks nice and blue but I don't get as much visibility. I might even go with 4300k.

I can dig up a pic. I agree with you. The best halogen bulb with visibility would have to be the Sylvania Silverstars. That's what I was running before I got the HIDs. They don't last very long though. I've been through 2 sets and they only lasted about a year or 2, and that's with DRLs disabled.

i got NR-G 5600k h4s right now , they look good in high beam , whicj i gotta drive in because the light sucks . the high intensity discharge system is like a strobe light stuck on the "on" position.

the bulbs that are supposed to resemble hid really suck , the best light ive found w/ stock bulbs and hate to say it , is silverstar ultra. if you do not touch the bulb in any way , they last a really long time. the suckiest i ever tried was hella. they were just the dimmest brown yellow id ever seen , and they are even supposed to have a cool blue color , nope . theyare worse than the stock normal bulb. sylvanias cool blue was better.i know someones gotta comparasion pic for polka. didnt you have one rollatuner , or was that mattavelli?
