Guage Cluster for Prizm

Which guage cluster would be the best and easiest to install on the 01 Prizm? I wanna get something that is like a direct bolt-on, has a Tach, and does not exclude any of the defaults....

    As always, .....really appreciate it..

The stock Corolla gauges will fit. I suggest going to the local salvage yard and picking up a set cheap. Everything will plug right in.

CE and VE came with no tach. LE and S came with tachs. So I would look for 98-02 LE and S models. You might get lucky and find some with upgraded gauges from Toyota.

Maybe you can mix and match the parts from the new one and your current gauges to form one with your mileage.

correct . if its digital , you can pull the digital diode cluster out of the cluster itself . and swap it , just make sure if there is a battery in there do not disconnect it , or pull it out or it will reset to 0 and you will have to go to toyota to get it redailed on a computer.

    I found this

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-9...sspagenameZWDVW

Read the description. It says that the vendor is not sure what mileage will show up after hooking it up, the one on my car or the one on the cluster. This might fit right, but what about the mileage and stuff? Will the ECU give me trouble?

I dont think u can, the dealer has to slap a sticker on the door frame or something saying that the meter was reset to (milage of new cluster) at (milage of old cluster) kinda sticker, that was its all legal...

At least I dont know of a way to reset the milage never heard of any
I'm not the greatest with electronics, but if its a straight forward job, I might do the swap. In any case, I don't think I'll be selling this car, especially since I'm gonna work on it so much and the fact that I'm throwing in a new engine in it. If I can reset it to 0, it might be a good idea to keep track of the mileage of the new engine..lol

    heres the rear,

think its possible to swap the digital dial?

It is possible. You'll just need to pull everything apart.

When I put an LE cluster in my 98, all I had to do was take out 3 screws on the back of the speedo on each cluster, and I put my original (with the correct mileage) into the cluster w/ the tach. That way, nobody knows it wasn't supposed to be in there in the first place. Works like a charm, and looks just like stock. Took me ~15 minutes from pulling the old one out to putting the new one in. Easy.

I found a cluster for the 01 rolla but it has everything in red. I can possibly cover it up with glow gauges but what about the red needles? I'll have a red needle on the tach and a green/clear on the speedometer. Can I swap needles as easy too?

Yeah, that is an S cluster. You'll need to swap needles if you don't want the red. It's not hard to do. Just be careful remember to put everything back the way it was.

has the blinking sucurity light , and might need a code to activate after installation . could also mean , that the odemeter , even when swapped out will go back to the original , milidge of the car it came out of.

also , im not too sure that a prizm and toyota cluster are the same , a friend of mine just ran into this problem , he sold a 7th gen cluster from a corolla , and the guy that bought it had a prizm , everything plugs in , but , the overall shape of the cluster in the dash is different , kinda like the trim shape. somebody post up a pic , of their 8th gen cluster in the car , and let ed see if the basic overall shape is the same.

Don't you also have to be careful of the years? I can't remember exactly where the change takes place but i think it is 98-00 are interchangeable and 01-02 are interchangeable. If you put a 02 cluster in a 99, when you hit the left turn signal the defrost light flashes instead.
