    98-2002 Differences.

What are the differences between 1998-2002 models? Are all parts interchangeable? I'm trying to figure out what year I want to buy to pop in a 2zz.

Just get a 98. Oldest one, so it should be cheapest. Also, the front end is about the only difference between them (besides VVTI in the 01-02).

I second the opinion. Since you won't be worrying about the miles on the car, the cheapest would be the 98.
There were a few differences like the engine, mentioned by c_green38. The 98-99 had the non-vvti motors, while the 00-02 had vvti.(Its debatable. Some 00s had vvti motors, while others did not.) The 98-00 had the original bumper design and single H4 headlights and blob shape backup lights. The 01-02 had a new bumper and dual beam low and high headlights along with circular backup lights. The 01-02 also came in the S option with black interior and a very nice stitched steering wheel.
