can you see the fabrication?

that front bumper is confusing me. what is it?

Its a 01-02 front bumper molded onto the upper half of a 98-00 bumper. Its nifty looking but how strong is it?

looks good but got some bruises on that kit

correct me if i'm wrong, the side skirts are tom's for the ae111, hmmm, not so sure about the front chin (or lip as they call it there) and the rear lip? anyways, there's an available tom's front and rear bump to compliment the tom's skirt you have...

another question is, did you DIY the body skit install?

since it's a used kit, i suggest have them redone again... it really looks awful and beaten up... i am sure it could be fixed...

and hopefully aftermarket rims would also help make the car look better with the kit... HTH...

Personally i think the front bumper looks nice and as for the rest you could hardly noticed it unless you were up close ..... just put some rims on it that will make a big difference and when you get money when you get your car repainted just have them touch it up other then that looks better then what i have ,,,,, which is no body kit .... LOL..... yet ..... LOL

I'm admiring the custom work you did on the front bumper.. just curious what did you use to mold the two bumpers together? bondo? fiberglass? epoxy? plastic welding?

You can weld plastic? As in melting both surfaces of each piece and fusing them together?

yes, it's called plastic welding. It work with thermal plastics such as polyurethane or polypropoline (sp?) which is what most bumpers are made of. It's kinda like welding metal but at lower temperatures and no sparks. A plastic welder melts the joining plastics and add a filler which comes in a rod form. There are professional kits but a DIYer can make one using a high watt soldering iron. Only thing is the DIY kit would take forever to weld together two bumpers.

(this tool is not that good i've used it you have to buy a air compressor and the tool gets VERY!!!! HOT!!! and can cause DEATH!!!) this shit made in china and is very dangerous if your not a pro at pastic welding I DO NOT SUGGEST THIS!!!

or you can do it the crude way like me...hehe go buy a solder tool (gun or screw) and cut out pieces of abs and welded it between 2 bumpers but beware if you lightly hit a wall your bumper will slip in half. it happen to me twice

3.Cut the top half of the 98 bumper
then cut the bottom half of the 98 bumper

4.then weld the ABS together. for my finish touch all i did was bondo the front and smooth it out. Stick together pretty well actually. you can tell i had a struggle with installing the front lip kit but the bumper didnt' got damage.

5.Paint.

I did much of the same when I made my front lip except I brought most of my plastic welding stuff from http://urethanesupply.com
Basically I brought one of their tips and adapted it to my radio shack soldering iron and some PP plastic rods. But it took forever because my 30W soldering iron dosen't seem to be hot enough. Kudos on the job. I'd buy one of those big bucks plastic welder but I dont think i'd use it that much.
Also if you think what you did was crude I used my mom's old laundry iron to flatten everything out.. Wasn't a great idea because I forgot to clean it after and used it to iron a pair of pants a few weeks later.

It sounds like an expensive and extensive cosmetic modification that I'll don't think I would go through.
