    8th gen intake question

hey guys some of you might remember me from 9thgen.. i had the 2003 s/c'd corolla. n e ways i recently purchased a 2001 corolla and have been doing some small mods to it untill i can afford some bigger things. i decided to take the intake snorkel off today and noticed that it was atached to a box that is below the fender well. anyone know what that is? the 2003 never had that so i was kinda surprised.

Its not as restrictive but it won't much difference besides sound.

so its pretty much just to reduce the intake noise... good to know thanks. it definately make the engine sound more agressive with the snorkel taken off but thats all it does. im going to buy an intake but i want a true CAI and so far it seems that only ELP makes one and you cant find them anywere.
