How do you do that? Just lay on the gass until it blows?

He probably went to go to 4th gear and ended up going to 2nd gear. or went to go from 2nd gear to 3rd and hit 1st gear, who knows. But i know on the corollas, if your moving and try to go to first, even just rolling, it wont let you, well it makes you shove it in.

    Yeah, they are open deck.

With the early 2ZZGE Celicas, there was a problem with the shifter where it was easy to shift from 3rd to 2nd (instead of 4th), and resulted in a lot of these :(

    That's a 1ZZ though if I'm not mistaken.

You have to be laying on the gas and misshift and have your RPMs up there to do this right? I've missed a couple times but I wasn't revved up too high.

no.... if you lay on the throttle during a shift youll just bounce off the rev limiter. a mechanical over rev happens when vehicle speed overcomes gearing (going from 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th at a redline shift) forcing the engine to physically rev past the rev limiter.
