Stiffer rear suspension for weight in trunk?

if they are stock and you've never replaced the shocks in the back, then you may want to consider getting new ones. anything will do. even new stock ones. if you're looking for something cheap, KYB's would be nice. I believe the Tociko HP blue ones will give you an inch drop so if you are just planning on replacing the rear, tociko may not be the best way to go.

I've observed just about every 98-02 corollas have weak struts. the four corollas at my house all went bad and so far we've repaced 3 of the 4. Anyway, once you replace it, you shouldn't experience any rubbing.

Currently I have the stock rear suspension and lowered front on my 2001 Corolla with 17" rims. The problem is that with the weight of my sound system in the trunk it rubs in the rear going around corners and bumps. Are there some better struts or something that I could get to stop it rubbing?

Even after you do the rear suspention you will most likely rub still. I would roll the rear fenders. I have 15" rims and I rub.

get racing coilovers then u won't rub..

What size are the tires and what's the offset of the rims?

So nobody makes stiffer struts or springs?

They use different spring rates. I know Jon with the Ksports has a ton of different spring rates.

Yeah I just want a cheap fix though. Would new kyb struts help? I have a 60lbs subwoofer back there along with a box that probably weighs another 60lbs along with 2 amps and a battery. It weighs it down a lot and when I fill up with gas I can barely stick a finger between the wheel and the fender.

maybe u should just get those puck things that u put on the coil springs to shim it like the ones used in Nascar...

To fix your problem, I think you can
1) roll the fender
2) find some stiffer springs
3) ride the rear height 1"-2" with spring spacers.

Struts don't help with ride height. It only deals with dampening the car. What you need are springs.

Where can I get some good springs?

How do I roll the fender? Are tein stechs good enough for stiffness? Where do I find these spacers?

You can roll your fenders with a baseball bat like vamp did. Check his diy's. S. Techs lower the car but are much stiffer than stock. So its all up to you.

Okay so with kyb struts/stechs/rolling the fender i should be in good shape to carry all that weight back there?

I already had the front lowered with tein stechs on stock struts so i was going to change the front to kyb struts when i did the back.

i hope you don't chip some paint with rolling your fender..

I'm sure I will using a baseball bat and a hammer. I have paint chipped elsewhere on the car unfortunately so it's not that big of a deal especially if its inside the fender where you can't see. I'll just be sure to touch up the paint so it doesnt rust.

You can also use a fender rolling tool but those cost 300. You can also rent them but who knows how long it will take to get one.

By the way how does ur car ride with the stock springs in the back and the stechs in the front!?
