3000Ks are really yellow. I think it's also due to the use of yellow glass to make the bulb. HID's last about 3 times as long as a normal halogen bulb and up to 10 years or so they say. So I'd say 3 + to 10 years. The bulb life of HIDs is 3000 hours compared to a halogens 400.

3000k is about the yellowness of a regular light or maybe a bit more yellow. i've found depending on the mfr, it can vary greatly too.

The original color is yes about the same as a normal light but they usually pass it through a filter to produce yellow light. And since it's an HID, the intensity is a lot higher.

I got tinted bulbs too. HID fogs are a bit pricey.
