Q for those who are N20'd

Hey whats up guys. Im in the midst of saving up again. Im pretty sure Im going to go for a wet 50 shot of ZEX. I was just wondering for those out there who are running about a 50 shot, what exactly does it feel like? and is it worth it?!

Wiring isn't too bad...at least not with an NX kit. NX tech support is incredibly helpful as well..

it looks like the zex kits are the easiest cleanest installs.

sorry for the double posting, but cadetlee, was there a lot of wire splicing and what not involved? what would you say was the harderst part of the whole install?>

The hardest part of the install was getting ahold of a 5/8"s drill bit, I guess..or deciding where to put the solenoids, relay, and switches. The installation itself isn't difficult -- it's just deciding where you want to put everything. I don't know how Zex kits are installed..but if you want pics of the locations of my fuel and n2o solenoids, as well as a picture of how I installed the WOT switch, let me know.

No..didn't really think about making a DIY..but I followed the instructions that NX has on their site, and it went well..

I have some pics on my cardomain: http://www.cardomain.com/id/cdtlee84 -- if you want more, lmk and I'll try to take/find some.

i just read through the zex wet kit installation manual, it seems harder than i thought, but Im assuming it would be easier if I saw everything in front of me. the setup on your car doesnt look that hard. so the two things i would be looking for are the fuel lines and the throttle sensor wire thing right?

another quick question...for those of us who have automatics and still like to believe we've got a manual (L...2...D w/o OD...D w/OD) would it be better do just stick it in drive and spray or could i still "upshift" while i'm spraying? i know sometimes the gears don't shift exactly when you want them to and i'm not sure if that'd hurt something with the added power

Leave it in D. You don't want to risk hitting the rev limiter when you're spraying.

I wouldn't run a 50 shot on my car. The stock engine internals aren't very strong. I'm going to run a 35 on mine. I don't want to have to worry about decreasing my engine life and reliability.
Run a 35 if you want your engine to last.

If the stock internals aren't strong, how is vortex running 12psi? :p

    :) I guess it's just a matter of time?

This is what I've heard from knowledgable people, 10 psi is the most you would want to go without risking damage on stock. And for n2o a 50 shot can reduce the life of your engine...

Revving to redline daily can reduce the life of the engine, too..but mine has managed to go for 163,000 so far.. ;)

Are these knowledgable people familiar with 1ZZs, or just turbos in general?

Thats geat! Did you mean you rev to redline daily or was that a for instance? How many miles did you start using n2o at?

I want to get 250k out of my engine if I can. I'm just being cautious. Cars aren't cheap to repair and I don't want to blow a piston ring on my daily driver. That would just be a pain in tha ass and I would regret running so much n2o if that happened.
Yeah they've got experience with 1ZZs. I'm just going off of what some people told me.

I bought it at 113k, and probably didn't really beat on it much until what..120-125k maybe..I've only ran half a bottle of n2o (I need more pressure, and I haven't wanted to pay 200 bucks for a good heater yet) through it, but I rev to redline almost daily. I hit the limiter once today..I don't usually do that, though. :p

I only have the nitrous set for a 35 shot, though -- I'm going on the cautious end of things..I've been told by a few people (including a local 'performance' shop, if you can call it that..they want 8k for a turbo on my car..bah) that a 50 shot would be perfectly fine, but I can't risk losing my daily driver.

nice. my two front wheels and tires are giving me shit right now, so i might have to postpone my n20 project. I think Im going to go down to 16's. the roads in vegas SUCK the big one! i think i have a slow leak in one tire, and well the other wheel has a big dent in it which is making the tire look like it has a wart sticking out.... oh and my windshield has like a 7 inch crack in it... and my regulator is out on my driver side window.... and i need to change my spark plugs... jezzuz... i feel so sorry for myself!

Stay for a night..it'll cut the drive in half. :p

What year and what intake do you have? I have an ELP for 00-02 modified for 98-99, which I could switch over..it needs a relocation of the shark nozzle and a plug for the existing hole..has a K&N on it already.. ;)
