Considering how many sets of 17" I've bent, I would stick with 15" and only use or keep the 17" for shows.

    I'll pick the 15" since I'm 15" lover. :D
15" is lots lighter than 17" (usually), it's better on the preformance side.

yeh it makes so much sence, i love how the 17s look , but performance wise isn't so great.

got another question. do u think 45 series are good for the 15s?

    15 vs. 17

I have 2 sets of rims, 15 inch konigs wrapped with 50 series, and i have 17 inch r-1 racing rims wrapped with 40s.

which rims would u guys roll in. and which 1 would perform better.

i gess 15s are the way 2 go ^_^. i got 50 series rite now. feels safe on bumps and stuff, but i feel liek my car is high. 45s would be a pain in the ass?but also isn't it gonna make acceleration quicker since its smaller....

If you have an off size which is different from your stock size rim and tire, then you will need to get your speedometer recalibrated. It's just an illusion that you're accelerating faster.

Your car was designed with 15's in mind you can put any size on but the bigger you go the less performance you get out of it, plus with 17's you need to upgrade your braking system. the stock brake rotor and pad size will only have but so much stopping power

    15 for go
    17 for show

i got 15" fat 5's riding on 50's. funny there bigger rims, smaller tires, and there way lighter than my oem sport rims, which i sold a few weeks ago. i wouldn't go any bigger than 15's because i want to do some engine mods and acually not loose any performance using bigger rims, defeats the purpose of increasing horse power right.

    cheers,

Well I don't think anyone will lessen the diameter of their wheels. Staying as close to the stock diameter is what everyone is doing. 14" wheels are theoretically lighter than 15" but I bet you my Konig Heliums are still lighter than any 14". It's hard to beat 10.7 lbs a rim.

    15" all the way!!!
for my taste, performance wise, I'd even say it's a bit big....
I'm rolling on 14" which is even lighter then 15" and when wraped with 50s, it's like having a celica GT FD on your tranny...
Think about it, the smaller the diameter of your wheels, the faster you can get them to spin and with our 3.722 FD and 4th and 5th gear which are way over geared, we can use every bit to improve acceleration and with a theoretical top speed of 262kph in over drive, I don't think it will affect your top speed (exept maybe in vamps's case with the new monster he's building :p)
    That's just my 2 cents

I see maybe how you could come to that conclusion, but it still makes no sense.

im glad you posted this thread because i had a few thoughts in mind

as far as performance goes a 17" is a bigger wheel which takes more torque to rotate but then once it gets going it can travel at a higher top speed?

a 15" is a smaller wheel takes less torque which has better acceleration but cant reach that higher top speed that the 17" achieves?

also if you were to put different sized wheels on than stock, wouldnt the speedometer be a little off?

How would a larger wheel make you able to reach a higher top speed? That makes NO sense. If that were the case, donks and hoopties would be the fastest cars ever. :p

well i guess that a bigger diameter wheel has a bigger circumference so it travels more distance in one revolution but i was blinded by the fact that i didnt take into account the weight or even the profile of the tire

The larger rim size is compensated with a thinner tire. This still makes the overall diameter the same as stock. So having a larger or smaller rim will make no difference.

Or cruising. Less unsprung weight equals more response which translates into better handling.
