    All the SRI's do is suck all the hot air from the engine bay into ur motor, not helpful at all, I'd go with a CAI. I had an AEM CAI on my 04' a couple months back and it sounded awesome and mean, gave me a bit of throttle response and about 3-4 mpg better than what I was averaging. Couldn't really notice a big change because of the altitude here in Colorado but I'm sure at sea level an intake has better effect.

    Saying that a SRI is "not helpful at all" is just wrong. In fact, a CAI may not yield too much more HP than a SRI. From Dyno sheets I have seen, SRI = 7 to 9 hp..... CAI = 8 to 10 hp. As far as sound, CAI will be louder because there is less material between it and your ears.

    not saying that is worthless, just saying that from personal experience is something that I didn't find any gains with so not my preference that's all

    It works on the other car doesn't mean it works in corolla. (And I'm pretty sure the dyno sheets you have seen is not corolla)
    I know in 00+ celica, SRI works pretty well since it sit right behind the headlight towards to front.
    BUT in corolla (98+), it always sit right next to the header and bend towards the firewall.
    It really depends on the design of the the SRI and really depends on car.

    also depends on weather condition. short ram works well enoguh and you can keep them on in the rain. cold airs are a whole nother story. the further away from the intake manifold it is the worse the throttle response. you will get colder air, but not that much. alos, if you have a cold air in the rain and hit a puddle your screwed because it will get bogged. so, 2 extra horsepower and risk of screwed up engine, or good enough horsepower and less risk?

    What? I was talking about a Corolla ofcoarse, and the dyno sheets were from an 03 Corolla S. I don't understand what you just said. And in an 03+ corolla a SRI sits directly where the stock airbox would normally be(right above the drivers side fender well). It's not anywhere near the header. Uhh... yeah.

    ^That's what I'm saying, the SRI is bending toward the firewall, not to the front. And the one you said is just "shorter". Instead of sitting beside the header, it sit right beside the engine, doesn't change the fit that it's sucking hot air in the engine bay.

    It's really hard to believe just a SRI will give a 03+ rolla 7 to 9 hp.

    =======================
    note: I have SRI in my 01, it's my first hand expernice.

    yeah, i'm sorry a short ram intake on a 1zz-fe will give you 2.1 HP to the wheels AT redline, and a heinous drop in torque alll throughout the powerband until you hit redline. not worth it to go SRI, just make a custom CAI with your stock airbox.

    enjin cold air intake will give you about a 16 horsepower gain. i would post my dyno results but this forum won't let me. wow this is like that other forum with so many restrictions. anyway the guys at enjin installed the setup and i'm most pleased with the 16 horspower gain at the wheel. they used my car to submit an application for a carb sticker. right now there is no carb approved aftermarket intake for the 05 06 xrs, something to do with the carbon filter element in the air box lid.when i'm allowed to post pictures i'll show you the results.http://s88.photobucket.com/albums/k...1&addtype=local
