    Engine Swap

Dr Tweak has suggested an engine swap to me for my 01. 3SGTE turbo w/ intercooler. I'm seriously thinking about it. He has my car now doing a tranny 5 speed manuel conversion, rear brake conversion to disk, and a Cold Air Intake. He knows corollas. The engine swap will require additional work such as: computer and wire harness upgrade, drive axle upgrade, and tranny upgrade w/ high performance parts. Also, 5 lugs hub conversion. My question is should I do this and why? Also, is he good at what he does or is there better out there? LET ME KNOW.

He's good! don't worry about it!
5 lugs hub conversion is not really necessary. If you're not going to do like 400hp.

I thought on that swap for my 93-97 rolla too... but i always wanted to ask somebody who really knows about swaps if the 3sgte is too heavy and if it would change the weight balance of the car to dramatically

Ill say less than that... well i just dont know if the handwork there in the US is expensive... i think so so thats why u all see it that expensive... but in my case... i live in venezuela, i can get on ebay a 3sgte front clip for less than 3k $ to send it to venezuela like 1 k$ there goes maaximum 4k$ and the mods to put it in my rolla a 1 k$ more... and then i have a 93-97 260hp rolla hehehe... if u get the last gen of the 3sgte,

I would have to disagree, the most difficult part is not fabricating the enginedameprs. my friend and I attempted this a few years back. wehad a friend make some custom engine and tranny mounts for us which wasnt a huge deal. once you get the 3sgte in the car, you have to start rearranging all engine componently everywhere because everything will be a very tight fit. the worst part for us was to figure out how to make the damn chasis more sturdier because withso muchmore power, going around corners will eventually screw up the chasis too. also figuring out proper weight distribution from front to back and adjusting proper suspension setting took time too. Long story short... with the time spent doing this swap (For us) it wasnt really worth it. in fact we didnt finish all the way and just sold the car. We then decided to just put a modified 2zzge engine, keep it fwd and instead of 300+ bhp, the car was now doing 245bhp with slightly less acceleration power but 300lbs lighter so wewere able to achieve similar performance.

If you still really want to invest the timeand money to the 3sgte, check out venus auto. thats where we got our engine. full front clip for a very decent price.

sounds good. as long as you are not the one doing all the work iwould say go for it. i am the type of person who would rather do everything myself because you cant rely on other people esp if you dont know them. i just had bad luck in the past with other people working on stuff for me. i'm a DIYguy except for when i get lazy.. hehe

thats what i like to hear! lol. its not often i find poeple looking for better performance rather than looks. esp on corollas 98+ now for people who still own like a AE92 or AE101 or better yet, the good ol 86 for those drifters, those people still like to go after performance. but after that, most cars i see are usually all show no go..

I wish you the best of luck with your and by all means keep us posted on whats going on.

btw, are you going for track performance or maybe rally? or just general performance upgrade so you can have something unique which no one else has?

i would do the 3S-GTE swap just to have something no one has .. well not many people have ... So when you pull up next to a G35 or something .. you rev and burn .. and people would be like that was a Corolla?!
