    3sgte is from turbo MR2 mk2.
I think more ppl did 2ZZ-GE then 3sgte.

SOME ONE MAKE A DAMN STICKY!!!!

for 2001 corolla , you can swap...
    ~2zz-ge
    ~4a-ge (16v)
    ~4a-ge (20v)
    ~4a-gze
    ~3s-ge
    ~3s-gte
    ~7a-ge
    ~7a-gte
    ~5s-fe

because of low interest* in engine swaps on a corolla, most parts will have to be custom made to make engine mount right.

*interest means actual people who's actually done it.

What if i happen to throw a 3S-GE BEAMS motor into the rolla? will that be a better choice over a 3SGTE or a 2ZZGE?

once you put a 3SGE, youre gonna want turbo anyway.. but you'll probably have a better chance of passing smog without Turbo.

Well from what i've been reading the BEAMS motor is rare .. and has 200HP and all i seen on ebay for 3S-GTE's are 3rd gens .. which are harder to find parts for.. from what my friend says. and the 2ZZGE is 170HP so ... the BEAMS motor would be a better choice in my mind ...

how come no one considers the 4age swap anymore? i know its a smaller engine and stuff but so many parts for it. and just as good as a 2zz in most cases

I would still love to do a 4A-GTE swap in my 98. Not too expensive, great parts abound for it, and it would yield some serious power if done right. Would be fun for daily driving, plus good for AutoX. :D

Take the 4A-GZE and replace the supercharger with a turbo.

    That's the easiest way.

    You could also turbo 20v, that's also a 4A-GTE.

Or if you have the resources, get the 4A-GZTE if that is the correct characterization. lol. Twin charged my man. HKS used to carry that kit for the 4A-GZE a looong while back. Its one of the few motors that is capable of this amazing feat.

Both are nice, but parts for the Blacktop (much better than the silvertop) are more expensive. I'd just go with the 4A-GZE turbo conversion. The blacktop has a higher compression, so it's better for N/A uses. Parts abound more for the 16-valve 4A-GE anyway.

but c, if u boost the black top u can get much more power then the 4agze. i'm planning 2 do a motor swap but i'm not shure which 1 to go 4.

The 4A-GZE would be easier. It already has a lower compression, so it's more boost-friendly.

Depends how deep is your pocket. If you're willing to spend on the project go turbo a 20v.

Yes. 98-02 are identical except for the face lift on the 00-02s. The 98-99s also had the only nonvvti 1ZZFEs in them as well.
