1zzfe must be burning oil but where

    Hi,

I have a 2001 corolla s, 5spd, 1zzfe. Its been use alot and alot of oil. So i am assuming its burning oil. I checked the compression on it, and 180 on all 4 cylinders. Checked the value clearance and they are good. checked pcv value and its good. where else can I check to determine what part to replace?

    Thanks

i don't see any oil in the oil pan, so I assume its not leaking.

    Thanks

Please tell me that you mean 'on' the oil pan and not 'in'... :D

it's normal for an engine to use 1/2 to a full quart of oil in a 3,000 mile interval. Specially with older engines. If you drive with a lead foot, that could do it too.

Use synthetic oil. Mobil1. They about $5/quart but you'll feel a noticeable difference, your engine will be livelier. Trust me.

1zz-fe doesnt use an oil pan gasket, it uses silicone to seal it.

mobil1 is great but if you already burning oil you will burn more, synthetics are thinner than mineral oils so it would find leaks more easily get into your combustion chambers more easilyso will just make you burn or lose that more expensive oil even more quickly
